I am pretty happy with our drafting and while the trade period was a disappointment largely due to our inability to move on a couple of currently contracted over paid players, the overall result, (Gregs mark) for mine is about 8 out of 10.
I suspect that if we had had the opportunity we might have taken Dowler and Muston with our first two picks however they are both Hawks now...ce la vie.
One player whom I thought we might have chased was another Hawk, Cambell Brown who was out of contract. A small back, the guy has moxy and gets big kudos from me for having now two priors against Lloyd. And he can play, finishing top 5? in the b&f despite several holidays.
How will we line up??
The second year for last years recruits, who include some of the most exciting prospects to come to us since the 60's, will include greater opportunity for this group. We still have real problems in at least two positions and who will play there is anyones guess...B/p small and chf. However opportunities exist for players contending for other positions as well and of course a lot depends on the fitness of Browny and Cogs.
Just a shot but our team for Rd 1 vs Dogs could be,
B Meyer Gaspar Kellaway
HB J Bowden(Capt) Schulz Johnson
C Deledio (D V Capt) Coughlan (D V Capt) Tuck
HF Hall Pattison Pettifer
F Brown(V Capt) Richo(V Capt) Tambling
R Simmo Newman Rodan
Res P Bowden* J.O.N.* Knoble & Polo*
Em Hartigen Hyde Krak and Stafford.
