PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

There seems a bit of emphasis put on tackles at RFC recently.

Some players tackle and their opponent stays tackled. Arms pinned prevents proper disposal of the ball, flung to the ground makes the opposition hurt and likley to hear footsteps for the rest of the game.

There are tackles that are rewarded with holding the ball frees. Tackles that prevent legal disposal resulting in a free kick. Tackles that physically hurt the opposition and possibly make them hear footsteps for the rest of the game.

Then there are tackles a player breaks away from or still has his hands free to dispose of the ball properly and tackles that have no team reward whatsoever.

Does anyone know how tackles are actually judged in order to be counted as an effective stat?

Also who do people consider to be our best tacklers?
