I used to be a bit of a lone hand when I thought Pettifer would benefit from an extended period for Coburg, most thought he'd learn more sitting on the bench in the ones.
I couldn't see how a kid from under 18's could improve when he wasn't getting any touches of the ball or game time. I still reckon he would have been better earlier if he really had to earn a spot.
I feel the same way now about Richie. I don't think it's an insult to him in any way to say I'd like to see him play for Coburg for a period.
Richie has hardly had a full game since he came down from Darwin. I think it would be far more beneficial for his long-term development to adjust to the pace and get touch in the seconds rather than sitting most of a game on the bench.
