Fair enough that people are having a go at our performances so far this pre-season but what's really starting to p!ss me off is when guys like Lids are starting to cop it.
FFS the kid is 19 and in his second year of AFL football while sometimes being tagged he still managed 395 posessions at an average of 18.8 per game. The kid is all class and for some people to be whingeing about him is a bloody disgrace.
I'll also back Richie here too. Although I recently criticised him for some fumbles in our loss to Geelong you've got to cut the kid some slack. He moved away from home and his family and friends at 17, had a kid at 18 and suffered a few injuries in his first year. Just because Buddy Franklin has turned it on in a few games people are going feral on him too. Well if you like bloody Franklin so much then go ahead and support the Dawks.
I agree that it's time to invest more time in the kids than the duds that have been p!ssing us all off for so many years now. If we finish on the bottom for the next few years because of it then so be it. I don't care. But bloody hell, will people stop criticising talented 18, 19 and 20 year old players who have yet to hit the 50 game mark? I can't stand hearing it anymore. Most of them will eventually click with experience and become good players so have a little bit of faith in the new breed will you???
