Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Lachlan River was chopped off by Perlin in the run home last Saturday, but still finished close to the placegetters. He's a great stayer and would have been a chance for sure. But there's still the Melbourne Cup to get your money on.......$$$$

A good measure of whether he's in the inner sanctum would be whether he got on before the huge go on I Got Chills. 13/1 would have been very handy.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

That well spoken (normally polite) gent said something about Melbourne Race 1 No. 12, today.

Mentioned that he thought it was better than... What was the name of that horse again, Ready? ;D

I'll have a couple of bob.

I'm certain Empress Lily is the best filly in the race, but she may need longer distances to upset the likes of Mnemosyne and company. She could still be good enough to win it though.
u guys don't seem to mention reewaya. think she may be a super star in the making

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Sydney Owner for me today, should be good odds and be there when the whips are cracking. Thinking more about this import Carte Diamond how similar is it to Taufan's Melody, absolutely mind-boggling that both horses weren't qualified yet were allowed to run, so if it's big odds is it a case of deja-vu?

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Sydney Pwner for Leysy today as well, will save on Carry on Cutie...both are WAY overs in what is always a toughrace to line the form up.

Carte Diamond is qualified Cogs, they all were, the MRC just had to decide which ones that were tied on the entry list would get a run.

here's the barrier draw, Geez I'm warming towards Plastered, 16 is a better barrier than being drawn inside for him I reckon.

Any other players headin to the track this week...................Leysy is there with bells on.

Im meeting up with JB03 whilst up there and we'll be expecting a barrell of winners from you blokes........esp as we can't pick one for dear life :-[

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Give us a bell when you get back, Think I'm headin to an area called the Banks on Derby/Cup day & gen admin the others...........lookin forward to it.

Oh & Commiseration bout havin your holiday ruined by meetin up with JB :rotfl

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

I didn't see the Miss Broadway run. Spewing... I had it straight out. They absolutely hammered it on the tote. In from $18 to $8 in 10 minutes....

Any feedback... she must've gotten back. Surely. Did she? Spewing.... can't believe she lost.

How about that Mnseoyones... etc. ? She is a super filly... pulled Rewayya's pants down... a lot of hype about that Rewaaya... she was outclassed.

Go Hollow Bullet in the Caulfield Cup on a dry track... 50 - 1.

Still haven't got over Volitant's win and my failure to make a quid on it.

Hope you PREnders won a few dollars today. I didn't.

P.S Sorry about Miss Broadway. :'(

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Nah it twas A good run GJ,

settled around 6th the fence.

The splits opened up at all the right times, what cost her was she was hanging in & Dunn couldnt straighten her up to go around the tiring horse on the fence,.

Once he pushed her through the gap she spinted well, however two roughies came with the momentum down the outside & had about 1/2 length on us.

Cheers for the tip & she was certainly better than her stablemate fav Regis.

Mnemosyne too good, best 3yo filly in the land.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Thanks fellas for the tip on Miss Broadway - had 3 times the amount on her backside than I did on her nose - she paid $3.20 which is a great collect. :clap

Didn't see the race - bloody customers wanting meetings during work time - should be a law against it. ;D

Have a great holiday up north struggles - you deserve it - with all those tough runs you been having a short spell in the paddock should freshen you up for an assualt on the Salinger :hihi

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

I think Leysy pretty much summed it up. I got the impression she could improve. Very sweet run first up. Hoped to hear you had a few extra dollars on the drum, RT. When she poked through into third, I had a feeling you might have turned a profit. :thumbsup Your luck might be on the mend.

They certainly trimmed her on the tote. Not much in the ring from what I heard (I didn't get out there till the third). I hope we all got a bit of eachway.

The raps were bigger than the run, IMO but a good run. Very good ride by D.Dunn.

I anchored Mnemosyne in the quaddie. Couldn't find much value in the other legs. Miss Dettori would've done. ;D Anyways, very grateful to get something. They probably had the wrong filly favourite in the 1000 Guineas, IMO. If she were mine, she'd race in the Cox Plate next.

The track is highly likely to be good or better for the CC. I'm probably going to spec Hollow Bullet (screaming for a dry track) at the 60s or so tonight. Other people will have noticed by Saturday and I'l get nothing like that.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Dyer'ere, I fancy Hollow Bullet a lot myself, but am waiting to hear more reports on Sport 927 radio or in the papers to see how she's progressing. I think she did pretty well last time on an unsuitable track.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

I think she's overs, Blood. It doesn't look a strong CC to me. I just had a few bucks and a couple of doubles.

She was a bit of a funny run last start. Dropped out in a very slowly run race. Steeplechase tempo and she couldn't keep up??!!?? Might be a different pace on Saturday. King's a worry but she's one of the few 4yos with plenty of black type. She reminds me of Imposera. Can't run a mile and a half and has a brilliant sprint.

I'll do the serious form on Fiday. Good luck, B17.

Kerrin McEvoy is back for the Saturday. There's one to watch.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

What worries me is Hollow Bullet hasn't shown anything like that phenomenal Oaks final sprint, when she won from an "impossible" position. It could easily be a mare winning the Caulfield Cup, with Dizelle, Demerger and Vouvray all capable of sudden improvement. Most people are perfectly happy with El Segundo drawing barrier No.4, but they forget he drops right out early and could be trapped near the rails. I would rather he'd drawn around 12 or further out, to give him the chance to keep clear of the frantic rush to the first turn. I'll still be tipping him because I've followed him since he won a small country race before coming to the city, but barrier 4 worries me a bit. The bloke who could really cause problems is Plastered, who is capable of anything to my way of thinking. He's been brought along very quietly, hasn't he?

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Lachlan River, who is about to strike top form, is now running in the Caulfield Cup after an overseas horse has a tendon injury.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

My memory is not what it used to be - but - the mares I can remember who have won the Caulfield Cup previously have all shown good form going into the race - Tristarc, How Now both won the Caulfield Stakes (Yalumba Stakes today) for example.

This makes me very wary of the mares in this years race.

Please note - my record in the Caulfield Cup is abysmal - so do the reverse of what I say/do and you will find the winner

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Ethereal was a mighty Caulfield Cup winner. But you are right and I hang my head in shame.........mares have a great record in the Melbourne Cup, not the Caulfield Cup. I stand (or sit) corrected, thanks!!!!!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

I agree with Leysy, keen on Plastered, its the horse I was always going to back in the Caulfield cup, I don't think the field is that crash hot, obviously El Segundo is the danger, but I can see Plastered hitting the lead at some stage in the straight. I really think these 2 will fight out the finish if the speed is well and truly on.
