Thoroughbred racing

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

The inclusion of the Japanese chump Tosen Dandy (if you can't beat Show Barry in the Cranbourne Cup how the hell do you get a run in the Cox Plate ::)) completely sets it up for the Diva. I heard one of the form analysts on the radio today saying this cat will set a scorching pace a la Paraca a year or two back and will curl up his toes at the School. The fast pace will suit the Diva to an absolute tee. She'd have to break down to get beaten.

She got beaten in the Feehan by L.O.T.M when Tosen Dandy went out like a thousand metre horse. In saying that it was only just and she has an extra 4oo metres to run anything else down.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

And she was second up as well. Even though she was only just beaten by a pretty good horse and it was a top run, horses like her are always most vulnerable second up, particularly after a scintillating first up effort like her Memsie win.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Swift Tango scratched.

Sarrera scratched.

Men at Work and Don Raphael look the likely ones.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

I think the effective pacemaker will be whichever horse settles second- likely Lotteria.

If you're riding from behind you won't factor Tosen Dandy. It's not like the second horse will set out after him from the outset.

His pescence should not do much for the pace that matters- the pace set by the first horse in running with a chance. He's no secret. We've all seen him and unless he's on the juice (or off it ;D) he'll lactate at the 400m.

But his prescence does have two effects. It means you can't get away with murder in front and it should ensure a smooth passage across for the 3yos.

I still haven't thought through what Beadman will get up to. That could be the surprise packet.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Tosen Dandy didnt lead in the Cranbourne Cup if memory serves me correctly & he ran easily his best race here.

He's no hopeof winning, but if the above is correct they AINT gunna lead on him.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Whatever Tosen Dandy does, agree that Lotteria or Hotel Grand will be the effective leader. Not convinced that HG will get across that easily. And I'm not convinced that God's Own will go forward. Just can't see him slotting in anywhere.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Rosy and others, don't take too much notice of this, but I think Command 'N' Conquer and Men At Work will run first and second in the Geelong Cup, then Montcalm will be tough to beat in race 9.

Don't send hitmen after me if I'm wrong!!!

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

First website I tried leysy - and can't get in. Wanted to check the balance after my absence. My initial fear was those scumbags at Racing Vic had shut it down somehow.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Trapped in the office with lepers and imbeciles. Got my bro to put a few shekels on him.

All up the Melbourne Cup. K.McEvoy rode. Have I mentioned that K.McEvoy is, IMO, the best distance rider in the land? I'd have made a horrible mess of em if I could have slipped me leg irons. D.Moor won the 9th and the RD paid $200 odd. G.Childs secured the quinella- $51. The accountant (late) cost $120 an hour plus my winnings.

Shoot em all, I say.

Anyways, my bloke runs in the MC now and I'll profit from a tidy run. If K.McEvoy rides, I'll double up.
