Not sure what arrangements were made payment wise when Rance retired, he was originally contracted until the end of 2021. I know he got some sort of payout, was that payment just for the 2020 season, or his total contract?
With the soft cap to be reduced, how about we keep Rance on the list for 2021, and he replaces Leppa as our defensive coach. This would give us more money to bring in a new high quality assistant coach.
He can train with the players, he might even get the hunger to play again.

I dunno.... sounded like a perfectionist trainer, which generally doesn’t translate to a good coach as they can’t relate to “why aren’t you trying as hard as I did”

Dunno about this one. Rance always had interests outside footy and doesn't seem like the career footy industry type. Also not sure what relationships are like after his sudden departure.

Whoever is teaching Balta is doing it well. He barrels opponents under the ball with his chest the same way Rance did.

I wonder how many believers that Rance will come back out of retirement are left.

A few weeks back C Wilson said something about his returning to play next season. Her mail about things Richmond is usually excellent. Hoping she is right.
Either with us, or with another club, it can only be a plus.

Yeah, if he were going to come back he would’ve done it by now. And if he does what’s he going to achieve? 31, 2 seasons out of the game.

Sounds like a really good plan. But not sure Rance will be in for it. Which means it probably can't happen

Yep. There were still believers in here just a month or two ago.

Appreciate all he did for us on the field, but he was never coming back and I can't see him as a coach either.

Rance is an unusual fella but his efforts to reach full fitness throughout his career (and in time for last seasons final series) suggest he has the capacity and drive to return next season, if he decides to do so.
If Caro.'s information is correct and he returns to the Tigers then I'd expect us to start as short price favourites for another flag. He is that important.

You do know he runs a school that specialises in sport? Primarily football!
Suggests he has a desire and passion to teach.

Doubt he'd be interested.
