Thoughts...... What does Plough need to survive 08.

if ferals prepare themselves for a bottom 2 finish and wallace is honest there should be no need for angst. i agreewith phantom but will add the win loss column should have no bearing when judging improvement. we will have an even younger side next yr or it should be. it would be foolhardy to expect much more than 5 or 6 wins. if this were the scenario i would tank like carlton did this yr.
Agree Claw too many people see the win loss column as the be all and end all to the seasons performance. Next year we will continue to improve, now much is the question.

Rebuilding is fine but it has to be said that every year we flounder at the bottom of the ladder is another season lost.
If we finish bottom three next season what will people expect in year five??

Richardson will quite possibly be gone at the end of next year and some of our other veterans are not far behind. That's going to take some covering over the next few seasons. Are there enough quality kids coming through going to pick up the slack and make us a genuinely better side???

There's plenty of question marks that some players we have recruited over the past three seasons won't make it.

Why is it that we can't perform well and rebuild at the same time?

When I see the way sides like The Kangaroos, Brisbane, Port, Hawthorn, Collingwood etc.. all seem to be improving right before our eyes it really does make me question if Wallace & his cronies know what they are doing.

I obviously hope it all works out but unlike some I remain unconvinced that this is all part of some grand plan that's coming to fruition.

To me the lack of 100 point defeats this season, (apart from Gaspargate) gives me an indication that we are on the right track. The fact that we achieved this with a very young team of kids is pleasing. We need to keep adding kids to find out who can play and who won't cut it.

Finally we have seen a coach with enough foresight to look past the next week and play some kids who have offered some optimism. The problem is we just didn't have enough combined with injuries to Simmonds, Coughlan, Noble and to a lesser extent Brown.

Guys like Edwards, Reinwoldt, Thurstfield, McGuane, Foley, Polak, Connors, Jackson, Casserly Patterson, Petterson offer us hope, but others like Hughes, Meyers, Schulz and co now need to step up. With another lot of youngster about to come to the club in this draft time is rapidly passing some of these guys bye. But if they don't want it bad enough move them on and give someone else the opportunity.

Give Meyers spot to Neville if he is not prepared to stand up and fight for it.

Despite the win/loss ratio this year I think we were more consistent and generally more competetive than last year. When I think back to round 1 of 2006 I shudder.

Problem is many of us have short memories and forget how bad we were back a couple of years ago.

The reason we have been behind otherside in progress is because we started well behind most. Some poor recruiting decisions and Wallace probably made a mistake by giving everyone a clean slate in his first year.

I for one don't care if it takes a little longer to be successful as long as that success is sustainable unlike we saw in 2004.

A better result then last.

More wins then 3 and a half

A gameplan

Passion from the list

A good draft with kids we need

Maybe even a finals spot may see an extension of his contract (?)

Going by what March has said a better performance and a performance such as this year will not be tolerated.
