thursfield & foley

neither Foley or Thursfield are automatic selections. hence they should of stayed on the rookie list. By them staying on the rookie list we could have kept Gilmore on the senior list for another year. Bit harsh for a 17 yr old bottom age draftee, changing states and uprooting his home to get delisted after 2 years. Very harsh, even if he does have a gambling problem. Gus really does have talent.

Foley is our only real in and under player we have and is for a big year.
Will play far more games than Thursfield.
Totally different type of player ::)
You seem to have it in for Thursfeild.Did he steal your lunch money or something?

At the end of the day it was up to him.His choice to get fair dinkum or not.He chose the easy way out.Sure he has talent but what kind of message does it send to the rest of the group in particular the cubs if we kept him on the list but wasnt prepared to do the hard yards.
If the delisting isnt a wake up call then i dont know what is.Its all up to him now.

Foley will play many games at Richmond.  Why?

Because he puts his head over the ball every time he's near the ball, and has beautiful hands and rarely fumbles.  A beautiful handballer of the ball also, who brings others into the game.  Most players on our list don't possess these qualities and as such will be exposed as less valuable to the team than Foley.  If only we had some fast silky skillful outside players who can do some real damage while being fed by the likes of Foley, then Nathan's value would be much much greater.
Foliage, Cogs and Tuck in and under Lids, Bling and Mystore outside receivers.
Then rotate with Kanetoad, Browneye,Krack, Newmo,Harts,Petter Patter(some say he hears little footsteps :hihi) and suitcases as your tagger.
Should be a reasonably competitive midfield.

In and unders -
Tuck - yes, did well this year, not fully proven yet
Cogs - proven good in and under
One goes down then we have absolutely no-one else.  Johnson maybe but he's overated IMO and getting old....maybe 2 years left.

Outside receivers
Lids - promise and will make it
Bling - Unproven
Mystore - Unproven
Kanetoad - Um... leave him in in and under, slow, no vision un-creative, no damage as outside player.
Browneye - more value in forward line
Harts - struggles - yet to prove much
Petter - are we being serious here ?
Krak - again being serious?  can't get 10 possies.
Newmo - much better value in backline
Suitcases - LMAO

Again - my point is we need some classy outside midfielders.  Besides Lids who looks a likely type we are really struggling in this area.  This is why the bulldogs have leapfrogged us so quickly - they recruited speed class and skill, and then once you implement a good coach and a good gameplan it all falls into place better and quicker.

So what you are saying Haralumbe is we are in deep poo?

The majority say we need KPP's in this year's draft, but from your analysis of the 'outside receivers', we need to acquire quality players from the draft to send the ball forward.

What are our priorities then?

How could you say Cogs is proven and Tuck is not!
Both had one good year!
Cogs is injury prone
Tuck look like his fathers image and will play 400games for the yellow and black!
On Foley, Williams was a rare breed, i dont think folley has his ability!

Good luck to the wombat...he will need to work hard over the pre-season. Willy needs no luck...he will blossom.

That's exactly what I'm saying.  Today's game is all about run.  Run to receive, run to link up, run run run.  We have ok ball getters, but my worry is we fall down when we have to carry the ball and create.  Who do we rely on?  Tivva?

I had hopes Gilmour would become that kind of player.  I just pray that Tambling Meyer etc. come good.

maybe woewodin will be able to fill that role on the cheap for a couple of seasons. he is a very soft player and will never get a hard ball but can recieve and is a reasonable runner.
