I am not sure if this has been posted already but a mate told me that Thursfield broke his arm on the weekend playing for Coburg.

Can anyone verfiy this?, it was supposedly a very bad break.

Great...

Haven't heard that...

But why was he at Coburg to begin with... He wasn't the only player who played *smile* against Carlton.

It was in a Coburg report somewhere on PRE on the weekend. Didn't say how bad a break it was or any details.

On page 5 of the Coburg game day thread, Dyer Disciple says Willy told him it has been Xrayed and is not broken

That's good news for sure but Thirsty needs to worry about finding his way back into the side.
Not a good year to lose form.

I saw Thursfield before the game yesterday with Vickery at Punt Rd and he looked in high spirits joking around. I was shocked when someone mentioned to me he broke his arm after just seeing him and thought maybe it was a more subtle one, then he spoke before our group later in the day and confirmed he was ok and been to hospitals and had xray. He was hoping to be back in the side next week (not sure if he meant coburg or what but still, obviously feels he can play).

So certainly nothing serious. He had his forearm bandaged up.

Reckon you'd be right but you seem to have forgotten round 1. ;)
Don't think too many Richmond players would be enjoying their footy right now.

Hmmm I wasn't happy to have our Full Back start on the bench, he shouldn't have been named in the side if Wallace didn't think he had a match up. Tigerbob and I were discussing before the game it was a tricky game for Thursfield to have the right matchup. Shot his confidence I reckon. Either set out back three as we were boasting last half of last season for the first game, or don't name one of them. Don't resign one to a spotfire role of the bench.

Fair enough. Perhaps he shouldn't have been named.
The pre season reports I read indicated his prep was very patchy.

What's his Coburg form like?
Could you see him coming back into the side yet?

Been a lot to suggest how he has been handled. Only been two games at Coburg and he got injured in the last (played well up to being injured).

In the first game he had a ordinary 1st quarter, was getting it but handballing and doing some odd things and Jade gave him a pep up and reminded him he is a good user of the ball and he was off, played great for the rest of the day and kicked out of the contests he won.

Now his injured/sore and obviously battling confidence I'd give him another week at Coburg if he can play and if he plays well have him straight back myself.

Think u hit the nail on the head Double D when u spoke olf confidence.

It is a fragile thing with some players and I think the chopping and changing and no clear direction from Wallace has left a few of the boys, including Will, a little out of sorts.

so, if it is recognised at PR that we do not have the horsepower to win a flag then the swapping/changing (some would say tanking) tactics make sense. Bit like a 3yo who has the talent to win the Mbne Cup yet won't be able to do it till fully mature at 5. Could thrash them at 3 then they are a cot case. I'm starting to warm to Tezza's master plan - oh I have been a fool.

Sounds like he was trying to play to the Wallet game plan and not his natural football. I'm starting to think it's no surprise that players do very well in Coburg but fail in the seniors if Wallet's insistent that the players play some convoluted ineffective game style at all costs instead of playing football and using their best judgement on what to do.
