Thursty's back!

As Proud Prez of Willy T must say ive been very heartened and pleassed at Willies return thus far, and i am a very big wrap for him, the boy is not ideally FB material as yet due to lack of body size but that will come, and the fact he has held up his end against the likes of O Loughlin, Lloyd , Milne and Riewoldt in 9 games says alot about the kids ability to concentrate and read the play which is imperative for a Full Back as it is a specialised position in this game..... not just any mug can play there effectively.

The young fella still shows signs of good agility and turn of foot but the fact the kid is a great spoiler and loves to do so, mixed with his footy smarts bode well for Wills career at the Tiggies.

07 for young Will is a year of consolidation and conditioning anything above that is a huge bonus, and as the season progresses so will Wills output and performance.

One thing that many seem to have not grasped about Will is the fact that the kid is a Stopper, pure and simple thus he wont be a big stats winner, thus some saying his not getting much of the footy is a bit harsh.

Will is a player and will be a very valuable commodity at Punt Road for some time.

Prez of Willy T ............ Craigiebabes ........................ yes i am back so for all of you guys and girls thought i was gone and happy about it well .................................... ;D.

Welcome back Craig.

It hasn't been the same here without you. :thumbsup

I think once we get Simmonds back & Polak can stay down back we have the makings of a quality backline which includes 7 with Lids & King rotating on the wings. I don't think Thursty will ever get massive but has pace & reads the play pretty well & could be one of those wirery strong type of guys Think he is doing well for only his second game back from a knee reco.

found ourself a fairly handy full back i think ,and hell only get better with more games under his belt. where did we pick him in the draft?

Shows the value in rookies with Thursfield, Foley, Howat, King etc etc I think that because they don't go straight on a list that they work harder & play more games either at VFL level or in suburban footy like King which means they are used to playing against bigger bodies similar to drafting guys from SA or WA might take some time to adjust to the pace but not scared to take on the bigger guys so many clubs now have rookies among their best players. Think the recruiters need to check out all the surburban & Country footy.

Most encouraging thing for me with Big Willy was the amount of times he got fist on ball when he was left in a 1 on 1 situation with her majesty

I saw that CC, put the tape on today and thursty keeps getting his fist in there some how and another thing that’s pleasing is he gets good gravity of the ground when attempting to make a spoil.

Thursty is a stopper and an effective one at that, he wont ever threaten the top of the stats sheet its not his style of play.

Wills spoiling technique is the first thing i noticed bout him and how he times his spoils well... and direct, it all comes down to being able to read the play and the ball in flight.

One cannot be an effective defender without this ability, those who watch their opponents and then react get bags kicked on em.
