Hi Tigers Supporters....
After all of the heartache regarding so many people missing out on Round 1 Tickets because their General Admission Membership doesn't get them into the game, ( subject to capacity ) I thought I would put a brief list together of games this year that should be considered games to "watch" in terms of crowd attendances and whether you may or may not need to upgrade your General Admission Membership tickets.
This is mostly a list for Members who have General Admission Memberships who are not familiar with how ticketing works.
You would expect that General Admission Memberships would get you into pretty well most other games this year at least on Level 3 at the worst case scenario, with the exception of maybe Collingwood games and maybe the second last game of the year against Hawthorn? If you're ever in doubt, upgrade to a standard reserve seat for a cost of $13 per ticket to avoid missing out.
Anyone who has a Reserved Seat Membership will always get into the games their Memberships entitle them to and in their own seats. So your all safe there.......
Games that have big stadiums and low crowds like say Rich Vs Melbourne at the MCG and Rich Vs interstate teams at the MCG will mostly have General Admission Memberships on both Level 1 and Level 3 normally.
I have only included games below that may be in question for certain circumstances in 2009 season.
Round 1 Vs Carlton - SOLD OUT
No General Admission Memberships allowed at all, not even for standing room according to MCG when I called them - Reserved Seat Memberships are Valid as per normal.
Round 2 Vs Geelong at Skilled Stadium - Some tix left for Richmond supporters but not many. Must book tickets for this game, no walk ups on the day at all. Will definately sell out 100%.
Round 3 Vs Bulldogs at Etihad - Rumour that this game may sell out as it is on a Monday public holiday? General Admission Memberships will be level 3 only unless you upgrade your ticket to a standard reserved seat or have other arrangements.
Round 9 Vs Essendon - Dreamtime at the G - Tigers Home Game- General Admission Memberships will be level 3 only most likely unless you upgrade your ticket to a standard reserved seat on Level 1. Big crowd expected. Last year was 55K - 65K - This year expect 65K - 75k now Kevin Sheedy is on board with us. This could be one to consider an upgrade, especially if you want to sit on level 1 and only have General Admission Membership. A themed game that is likely to get bigger in the next few years. - Reserved Seat Memberships are Valid as per normal.
Round 12 Vs Eagles at Etihad - Not normally a game u might think as a big one with an interstate team, but with possibly Cuzz playing for the first time against the Eagles, take note as its Etihad and only 54,000 seats, not the MCG. Most likely scenario: General Admission Memberships will be level 3 only unless you upgrade your ticket to a standard reserved seat or have other arrangements. Could be a surprisingly big crowd?? Keep your ears open about this one I would suggest.
Round 15 Vs Carlton at the MCG - Its Carltons home game, so listen out for whats happening about this game. Likely crowd of 50,000 - 75,000 - Most likely scenario: General Admission Memberships will be level 3 only unless you upgrade your ticket to a standard reserved seat. Might be some Level 1 General Admission Memberships at Ponsford Stand end depedning on crowd / capacity / ticket sales?
Round 17 Vs Essendon at the MCG - Its Essendons home game, so listen out for whats happening about this game.
Round 20 Vs Collingwood at the MCG - Richmond home game not Collingwoods, so listen out for whats happening about this game. Likely crowd of 60,000 - 80,000 - Most likely scenario: General Admission Memberships will be level 3 only unless you upgrade your ticket to a standard reserved seat. NEVER EVER assume General Admission Memberships will get you into a Collingwood game and do your research early, if in doubt, upgrade to a Reserved standard ticket for $13 This could be one to consider an upgrade, especially if you want to sit on level 1 and only have General Admission Membership.
Round 21 Vs Hawthorn at the MCG - Richmond home game, and this game could be massive IMO. Hawks have a lot of supporters, and its Richmonds last home game for the season in Melbourne if we dont play finals. So it could be Richo, Johnson or Bowden etc last game ever in Melbourne as a final farewell game if we don't make finals. Expect a big crowd also if we are in finals contention as its last home game in Melbourne. Most likely scenario: General Admission Memberships will be level 3 only unless you upgrade your ticket to a standard reserved seat. If in doubt, upgrade to a Reserved standard ticket for $13 This could be one to consider an upgrade, especially if you want to sit on level 1 and only have General Admission Membership. Potentially a 60,000 - 85,000 crowd game I would think depending on circumstances.
Round 22 Vs Eagles at Subiaco - This game will be huge if a: Richmond are in finals contention and / or b: Cousins plays in WA against the Eagles. Obviously no memberships will get you into this game unless you have an interstate membership, however if you are like me and intend to fly from Melbourne to Perth to see this game, be careful to buy your tickets early ( on the day they are released ) and THEN buy your flights to Perth as you dont want to be stuck with a ticket but no flights or vice versa. This game will 100% sell out I would suggest.
Remember, the comments above are just estimates and my opinion, but dont take my word for it, do your research yourself and if in doubt Tiger Supporters, upgrade General Admission Memberships to a standard reserve ticket to avoid missing out!
Anyone who has a Reserved Seat Membership will always get into the games their Memberships entitle them to and in their own seats.
Hope that helps to explain to those who are not aware of how it all works.
