went to ticketmaster last friday and asked. They said there were a lot of enquiries but it wasn't ticketed. They only had a small sectoin on sale then anyway.Guees have to be there early enough to beat the crowd.

If you get there early enough level 3 rows P1-P6(i think) have been general admission seating for other RFc home games (check with Ticketmaster or club).
Seats located Souhtern stand behind goals above RFC cheers squad.....walk up ramp to section P seating...

Have a look at link for seating plan
http://www.mcg.org.au/Events/Seating%20Plans.aspx

If your early enough you will easily get seats at the top of the ponsford.

I sat there for Hirds last game in melbourne last year and it was alright even though we arrived right on time. I think this week there will be a similar crowd so if the top of the southern (behind punt road goals) is too full try the ponsford.

.. or you are desperate enough for a spot, stand in the grog squad ;D

Concession membership for 11 home games $104 ($9.45 per game)
Concession membership for 17 games (all the Vic ones) $156 ($9.17 per game)
Don't know how much GA concession is at the gate.
A fair bit to pay for some, but the rolling membership is another option.

Good thing to remember for 2009, no value left if obtaining the 2008 one, if only to give the club some extra money.

I think you've missed my point BBC. The concession tickets you've quoted aren't available for all concession card holders. Health Care Cards don't qualify for the membership prices you've quoted but they do apply when buying tickets at the gate. Holders of HHCs have to pay full membership prices so there is considerable extra expense compared to buying tickets at the gate. Not everyone can afford to give the club some extra money.

I have an 11 game RFC Membership, but bought tickets for myself and the family to sit in M2! No discount, nothing!

Think you will find thats because the health care cards are a temporary card Rosy. Age, Invalid pension or student concession / under age are deemed to be a permanent allowance whereas the health care card may be for someone temporarily unemployed or on low income etc. which can be theoreticaly rectified quickly. Putting the card holder back into the bracket where they no longer need to receive assistance. Not sure but I think the HC cards are renewed every six months.

I'm a club support AFL member which means the price of the normal RFC membership goes to RFC and the rest goes to the AFL.
You get all RFC voting rights, the Fighting Tiger etc.

With a silver AFL membership for about $250(adult) kid($100) you get entry to any 30 games at MCG or the Dome, free entry two the first two weeks of the finals, and half price to all international cricket.
Full AFL membership(about a 7 year wait) for $360 you get the same as above but the prelims(free) and if you get in early GF tickets as well($75)
There used to be reciprical rights with the SCG but I'm not sure about that now
the only catch is first year there's a $250 sign up fee but unlike the MCC there's no waitng period.

So if your a keen supporter and don't want to miss out on seats check it out (the AFL members is rarely full)and even on the rare occasions it is it's only $5.50 to reserve a seat.

I don't know about HHCs TM. Some people would have them long term and some for a limited time. It doesn't change the fact that having a HCC and thus being entitled to discounted admission at the gate is a valid reason for some not buying memberships.

I still think the AFL should consider allowing people who have a current concession card, that enables discounted admission to the ground, at the time of signing to purchase a concession membership.

I never use my membership - it is a donation to the club. Always in a Corporate Box or the Long Room. Must be awful having to watch footy from the grandstands with the common folk.

The only way you would get in a corporate box or the Long Room is with a vacuum cleaner and/or Windex

You're right.

If TM is correct around the reasoning ... It would be such a miniscule amount of people, surely the financial benefit would be minimal in refusing to sign 'em up as a concession rather than adult.

Especially in cases like with your friends who simply don't buy the adult ticket and just rock up to the games when they feel and pay the cheaper price. Much better for the club to have the money front up.

Spot on TM, I should know, as I work for C/Link

I wouldn't think there is a good reason.

I have heard some 'supporters' say that when the team are 'better' they'll get one.

I've never not been able to get in on game day with my membership.

It would only be a problem if all general public areas were full, not that it's happened for a while. If you look at the bottom of your ticket it says 'Entry subject to capacity'.
Capacity would be general admission I would think. So even say, 50,000 would be almost capacity because the other 50,000 is mcc and afl members.

I usually don't have a problem as well, usually get there an hour or so before game time.

Premier, actually its $310 for an Adult/silver member and $410 for a full adult member and $110 for a silver junior....you get entry to 40 games...
Join up fee for adults is $275 and children $200, can be paid over 2 years...

I'm not so sure this is true. On this issue, the AFL Membership page at afl.com.au says only that:

When purchasing an AFL 'Club Support' Membership, a large portion of your Membership fee is paid directly to your club of choice. AFL Club Support Members are recognised and counted as official Club Members of their nominated team.

Is it the equivalent $ to a normal membership? I have previously contacted both AFL Membership and RFC Membership, and neither could tell me if a club support package was equivalent to a regular membership. If it was equivalent, wouldn't they say so?
