The one if any positives from last night for mine in a very poor performance is Daniel Jackson.

To play on a superstar in Black and keep him innefective throughout was a great effort.

Jackson after the last few weeks has shown he belongs. His disposal when he got it IMO was good and he knew where to be.

Jackson is now important to this side and should play the role he played last night when required.  Great Game. By far his best. I say this as no player was damaging when creating play. ( Hence a stopper taking the honours)

Now for Kane - absolutely dismal effort - probably your worst game yet.

When the game was in the balance one would hope to rely on ones captain - Well it was the opposite last night. Its harsh to say one player lost a game for us but Kane went close when a game was there to be one.

Wrong options and terrible skills.  Sad day when you say this about the Clubs on field leader.

Anyway Welcome D. Jackson - You have shown your worth - and IMO its quite important.

Should Jackson get this job week in and week out. Even if it means our captains has no longer got a role in the team.

Great mark, correct option, terrible kick. If the kick was good he hits Pettifer lace out dead in front thirty from goal and we win.
Flubbed the kick and we drew the game.

that was only one example.

He played the whole game - there are other times he caused costly handovers.

IMO his Stopping roles last tyear, and some times this year were meant to be his role.

Without being our best stopper - I question whether his form warrants selection ( captaincy aside)

D. Jackson will prove a better option for this role.

I have to agree, some people think that he played well i think he was woeful, meaning yes he gets his hands on the pill but disposal was terrible, remember he is the captain and continually kicks to the opposition, always looks to be under the pump when he really isn't wrong option on to many occasions.

I might be wrong ,but from where I was sitting I thought Kane saw pettifers leed in the dying minutes and he honoured that leed ,but petts seemed to pull away .or did he pull away because the kick wasnt very good?
In my opinion i thought criticism should be towards petts rather than our captain, for this passage of play anyway.

Your not serious BB, regardless whether petts or any other player makes a lead if the ball carrier kicks to the opposition or into no mans land that aint the fault of the leading player that’s the fault of the player who is in possession of the ball and its his responsibility to hit the target or determine whether petts lead is the wrong option and decide not to pass to him. That’s what most posters including myself are upset about.

What crap, he was still clearly in our best for the night and if you haven't noticed, he hasn't really been playing the negating role all season. Tivendale fluffed more chances to win the game for us than Johnson did, we should have been ahead long before Kane took that kick.

Will be traded for sure now... just building up his currency for when Miller shops him around for a 3rd or 4th round pick!

I look at a whole game - Kane made bad descisions and skill errors before that kick.  my veiw isn't based on just that one moment.

And Kane has often played on opposition guns this year as well, but form shows he isn't doing as well this year.

the point of thread is I feel D. Jackson if given time and persisted with will be a better option than Kane - Kane needs to find form, if he doesn't than hes a liability IMO.

gee, i thought it was actually tivendale who got us back into the game in the last quarter. and thats a big statement for me to admit that...

ZG - You can't be serious saying Johnson was amongst our best??? Just because he gets his hands on the ball a few times doesn't mean a thing. More often than not when he gets the ball it results in a very costly turnover. I think he is a very good player (when in form) but he was no where near amongst our best last night. I hate to say this but he is a actually a liability to us at the moment. He is so out of form he should have a run in Coburg, but unfortunately that won't happen. So we persist with his constant clangers and the younger players watch their captain's confidence continue to sag until what?? Does he all of a sudden find form?? Does a miracle happen and he regains his confidence?? No the reality is that he won't find it while he's got this huge expectation on his shoulders of being captain (rewind to Bruce Monteath in 1980). Give him a break at Coburg for his own good.

I was very impressed with Jacksons job on simon Black.

What I liked most is how he continues to let Black know he was there. Even got under Blacks skin.

One of Jacksons best games.

As for Johnson he is nothing short of disgraceful. Who the heck was his man ? evenever I looked at Johnson he is standing there on his own. Base on form, Johnson would be lucky to get a game with Coburgs seconds. Captain Turnover.

Yep Jackson has a fantastic game last night. At one point during the last quarter the commentators mentioned that Black had only had 14 touches, this in a rubbish high posession contest. The kid might finally be finding his niche in the side :)

Two good ones in a row. Was prepared to lead and lead hard. Nice kick for goal too ATM. Better halt the coffin preparation.

He only turned it over twice, at least Kane was running hard at the end to get his hands on the ball, so that last delivery didn't come off, without his contribution the scores would never have been level in the first place.

That was a real quiet game by Black's standards. Quietest for the year.

I totally agree U2Tiger.

JOHNSON"s overall performance was pathetic. He constantly caused turn-overs by kicking to Brisbabe players.

At least 3 in the last quarter.

Not only does this give Brisbane the ball, but surely dampens the zest and spark of our side. With deliveries like that, how does that show the young fellows that are busting their guts, that he is a leader and captain material.

The word "inspire" comes to mind. He doesn't.

It's a team game, and team confidence. With skills like that he is letting us down in more ways than one.

Make a stand selectors....JOHNSON to the 'burgers.

(Richo as stand-in skipper)

JACKSON for mine.

I didn't see the last game but from reports Jackson went ok on Black. Did get to see the goal he kicked on the sports show.

Watched the game against Bummers 3 times and was impressed with his goals in that game. Doesn't appear to get the yips when taking a shot and generally seems cool-headed.

He is worth persevering with.

And I think pressure has to come off KJ - start by making someone else captain

If Kane can get last years form back then I think the Johnson/Jackson tag team duo will work very well. With Jacko's ability to score, let me tag the play making half backer flanker (McLeod type) and give Kane the midfield tag. They could alternate if the tags weren't effective.

For Richmond to be a strong team we need more than one player who can nullify an opponent yet be damaging when the opportunity arises.
