Dera David,

It was my understanding that this year we had a list of 37 plus 2 veterans for a total of 39.
.......
Can someone please correct me if I am incorrect.

Peaka

Just had another look at my info for 2005, we had 40 players including Cambo as a Veteran (I think we made him a Veteran before the 2004 season, along with D.Kellaway), and Foley, Moore and Thursfield as Rookies.

I believe we ended up elevating all 3 Rookies during the season, and they are apparently remaining on the senior list, so I think my original numbers stand.

Someone else may have more accurate information on the issue.

Moore was elevated in 2004. Was on the senior list in 2005.

Looks like I have been misunderstanding the draft requirements David, from what you and others are posting does it mean that clubs are required to make room to take three draft picks regardless of how many rookies they elevate or trades they do before hand?

From the AFL site (explanation of the Draft): http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=aflinfosheets&spg=display&articleid=195173

National AFL Draft:
Trading takes place from 9.00am on a Monday until 2.00pm on the following Friday. It is compulsory for clubs to participate and by this stage they can have a maximum of 35 players on their list.

So everyone must go into the trade week with a maximum of 35 on their lists, which means you then must eventually get to the required number of 38 on your list either by trading players, or in the National Draft or the Pre-Season Draft.

Since we gained one player in trade week, and didn't lose any, we must get up to 38 (which doesn't count Rookies or up to two Veterans) via the two remaining options (and if we de-list any players before October 31, that may mean more players to replace them).
