What a day.
For 2 hours i had to listen on what the hell was going on at Punt Road.
Sacked, Newman being the catalyst, meetings last night into this morning, not sacked, leadership group saved Wallace.
So many rumours, what is the truth? Is it somewhere in between what we heard, what Craig and Newman said, or what was rumoured from the start that he had been sacked.
Did the Sun jump the gun to get first in with the news? Richmond news sells papers, we know that for sure.
Was there a leak which lead to what was reported?
If there was , who was it?
It was rumoured, or reported that Wallace was seen very early in the morning at Punt Rd, with Garry, Craig and Newman. Later on in the morning the leadership group arrived. The rest is what we are not sure of.
The events that led to this ?
Again rumoured, reported, that the catalyst to this was after the game against Port, Wallace gave the players a spray, targeted Mitch over his kick out of bounds on the full, Newman took up this displeasure and meetings were held. Was Wallace then sacked, or volunteered to step down as he thought he had lost the players, or did the leadership group and senior players intervened to save Wallace and call for some sort of mediation being captain and coach.
Did this then bring to head issues between players and coach and home truths aired between all players, coach, president, support staff etc?
I just found it odd the scheduled meeting taking place when it did as Craig mentioned and that Terry was home watching videos to get ready for the Bombers game.?
- Senior players not training !
- Terry not conducting the training session !
- I personally dont believe all that was said at the press conference . To me it seemed that Newman was a little fiesty and on edge. Craig actually spoke the best i have seen from him but there were some lies said, i am sure.
- Was Terry told to stay away in the belief that they thought he may say something to the press or that the heat in the kitchen would be too hot for him and he may finally cracked as he sort of did with the previous reporter last week at Punt Rd.
- What was the reasoning at having the press conference not in the rooms but in front of the Jack Dyer statue.? Was this somewhat symbolic?
- Are the players too precious that they cant cope with the truth and Newman had a problem with this , ala his "relax" comment to the media aimed to us the supporters?
- Players at our club have had a history the past 2 decades of having coaches sacked, or rumoured to have been the catalyst to having them sacked with their performances?
Finally after such a long, draining day will the truth come out one day in the future? Who knows.
Ala Geelong when they had their leadership group meeting 3 years ago, can this finally unite this club, removed us from the papers(only stories of us winning), get the media off our backs(they are like vultures), who have probably are causing most of this(maybe) and start winning and climbing up the ladder.
Can this be the start of something special (as Bruce would say).?
Could Wallace be there till the end of the year and somehow turn the season around and be there beyond this year into next?
Answers we will know come after Saturday night. What a game this promises to be. Lets fill the G out with yellow 'n' black colors.
Waiting.
