I am as pumped up as anyone about watching the Tigers in 2009, but with all the talk I got to thinking, what do we really need to have a ripper year.
I would argue that barring injury we pretty much know what we are going to get from Richo, Foley, Deledio, Brown, Newman, Cotchin, Simmo and to a slightly lesser extent Tuck, Bowden, McMahon, Moore and now Cousins. All can play, their good is outstanding and they are largely consistent. They at the least will take a best defender or tagger. It is the other ten players who will line up who will decide our fortunes of 2009.
The jury is still out on how good these players can actually be-
-Tambling
-Riewolt
-Morton
-Thursfield
-McGuanne
-Shulz
-Raines
-Jackson
-Edwards
-King
-White
-Polo
-Hughes
-JON
All of these players have have significant game time with the Tigers and all have shown promise but 2009 is the year some of them will need to show the football world they are real talents or our 2009 will be in tatters yet again.
And then there is the real unknowns-
-Graham
-Thomson
-Hislop
-Connors
-Collins
-Browne
-Collins
-Rance
-Post
-Putt
-Vickery
-Nahas
-Gourdis
A successfull 2009 will depend on our good players staying on the park and in reasonable form and at least 4 of our second string having breakout years.
