AFL clubs Essendon and Richmond have both announced record profits in 2007.

The Bombers said they recorded a profit of just over $2 million, while the Tigers announced their first seven-figure profit, of just over $1 million.

The strong financial results came despite both clubs missing the finals and finishing among the bottom five sides.

Essendon chief executive Peter Jackson said the Bombers' profit was a record $2.014 million, while Richmond's profit of $1.031 million surpassed their previous best profit of almost $950,000, set in 2006.
