Actually if i remember correctly AT, (seems sooooooo long ago!!), D'amico stopped Carlscums momentum not ours.

I'm pretty sure they kicked 2 goals in a row early in the 3rd quarter before D'amico "graced" us with her presence on the hallowed turf of the "G".

Actually we've lost 10 grand finals and won 10 grand finals, and lost one other premiership in which no GF was played. We don't win it when we make it, we win it every other time we make it. Collingwood win the GF less consistently, but make far more GFs than we do.

So considering we lost the last time we made it when we get there next we will win it.

That's my memory as well, felt we were in trouble at the time and was surprised later when it was suggested the D'Amico stunt was a Carlton plot.

I disagree. After the streak, Carltank kicked 4 goals (Fitzpatrick, Maclure, Fitzpatrick, Ashman) giving them 5.4 for the 3rd quarter.

Richmond could only manage 6 behinds - Bartlett kicked 2 of those behinds and Sartori another. Jess, normally known for his long kicking, didn't even make the distance. Of course, Jess may have been sulking that Doull got all the attention from Helen. (see pic)

In those years the Blues were famous/infamous for their very strong 3rd quarters.

Nice story to blame our loss on the streaker but it was actually bad kicking.

Well they're meant to be the second best team in the league or close to it, they didn't lose by significantly more than us and it happened in the GF.

They can say what they like. Tiges have won 5 premierships in my lifetime so far, the last 3 I remember crystal clear. I know its a long time ago, and we all hang for the next one(s); but don't lose faith - the wheel turns.

And if I had chosen Collingwood as my team of choice as a youngster; the team thats won 1 flag in my lifetime, 3 since Menzies (yeah, I'm talking Sir Robert) declared war on Germany - I would've hung myself in the old mans garage preliminary final day 1973 (what a glorious day!!) after the heartbreak of the previous few years.

I know we've been our own worst enemy over the last quarter century, but at least when we make it, we win the F thing!

We could then play the Oil's 'Read about it' by forcing the Scum supporters to not avoid the front pages of the media. We could also play the Oil's 'Put down that weapon' just in case some Scum supporters want to finish themselves, and then maybe six months later during the summer/pre-season, if you meet a Scum supporter in the pub who starts stirring you up that they are better than us, just pump up the volume with the Oil's........."Short memory you've got a, shooooooooort memory". ;D

I couldn't think of much worse in footy than losing a grand final by such a huge margin with the world's eyes on you. Pretty devastating really for all involved, especially after beating Geelong only a few weeks earlier. Getting the wooden spoon is long forgotten but the 2007 grand final will always be revived in discussion as the most insipid grand final performance ever witnessed.
