Tigers keen on Hawk discard Graham

RICHMOND has flagged interest in former Hawthorn defender Mark Graham, sent packing from Glenferrie Oval last month after 223 games.
The Tigers are in the market for up to three recycled recruits and Graham would add experience and steel to a young list.
Asked if Graham was in the frame, Richmond coach Terry Wallace said: "He'd be one we'd look at."
The Tigers have announced their intention to use late picks in the national draft – and possibly a second pick in the pre-season draft – to snare two seasoned key position players and an experienced back-up ruckman.
Mindful of the fact they have turned over a third of last season's list and many of the replacements will be first-year draftees, the Tigers are looking at ready-made reinforcements to help the next wave of youth roll through.
"We will probably pick up one or two key position types that are maybe delisted from other clubs," Wallace said. "And we probably need another ruckman."
Although the Tigers snared Fremantle ruckman Troy Simmonds during trade week, they also lost Brad Ottens.
That means they need support for Simmonds and the ageing Greg Stafford.
Cain Ackland, delisted by Port Adelaide in the wake of the Power's premiership triumph, is one ruckman available.
The Tigers are also light on for tall options in defence even though the emerging Jay Schulz looms as an exciting prospect.
Graham, 31, played 19 of 22 games for the Hawks last season – often on the opposition's most dangerous forward. His opponents included Barry Hall, Alastair Lynch and Fraser Gehrig.
Standing at a deceptively tall 190cm, he could be capable of squeezing another two years out of his career.
The Tigers continued to fine-tune their list yesterday, delisting Tim Fleming and Luke Weller.
The final changes mean the new Wallace regime has overseen the turnover of 12 players. It will be 13 if Ty Zantuck, as appears likely, leaves Punt Rd as well.
Wallace said Fleming, a hard midfielder, was an unlucky victim as the club looks to boost its tall stocks and give more young midfielders a chance.
Fleming played 17 games in each of the past two years, often successfully performing lock-down roles.
"He's done absolutely nothing wrong. He's been a solid person around the place," Wallace said.
"But he's going to be 27 next year. We just needed to fast track some of the quality youth we had around the place. Because he was such a good, hard-working citizen he was going to get games, but we want to give chances to younger players in the midfield area."
Weller is a key position player, but was deemed expendable after one fruitless year at Punt Rd.
The 190cm, 22-year-old crossed from Brisbane and managed seven games. He was on a one-year deal.
Richmond has picks 1, 4, 12, 16, 20, 36, 52, 68 and 84 in the national draft and first pick in the pre-season draft for uncontracted players.
