I was reading my Richmond bible "Tigers of Old" and looked up Nick Jewell. He isn't listed as a player and the only mention of him is in his Dad's profile as Tony's son who played with our reserves in the 1995 season and wa slater drafted under father/son.

I thought Nick had played for us so did a search on the net. He is credited with playing 1 Richmond game at the Waca- vs Freo in Rd 19 1997. Is that correct?

Is Nick listed as a Tiger in anyone elses' edition of Tigers of Old or has he been sold short not having his own entry?

Edit...forget all that. My mistake. :-[ The book only lists players between 1908 and 1996. Is there a more updated version available?

Correct Rosy - played one game probably at the urging of Tony and might have cost us a finals spot.

Walls got the flick when we had 6 wins for the season after round 17 and we had "no chance" to make the finals.

Geish won first up against the bullies and week 2, Tony obviously got into Jeff's ear and convinced him to give Nick a consolation game as he was looking like heading out the door. I think Richo was rested and Nick played full forward and didn't go near it.

Tiges scraped through three wins in last three rounds to finish on 10 wins but as luck would have it weird results had eighth place finish on 10 and a half wins, so Tony's gift to Nick of a game most likely cost us a finals spot.

Only consolation was Ben Harrison breaking blue hearts in round 22 by kicking the winning goal to keep them out of the 8. (after Tiges were dead and buried at halftime)

I reckon we might have really shaken the finals that year if we had made it. We were in hot as form at the end of the season.
