I know that it was only game one.

BUT

What i saw was pathetic(mainly from senior players). Only a few players can be partly satisfied with that performance.

St kilda had more than 8 players missing, us maybe 4 yet it shows the gap we have to bridge.

No game plan evident AGAIN. Wallace has had (four pre seasons ) to work on this. Remember his 100 pts a game, remember Terry's triangle or whatever it was. Exciting football two seasons ago, a dream.

A pre season of no publicity, let the football do the talking we were told. If this what they dished out, god forbid for the coming season.

Has Terry got the respect and are the players playing for him. I alluded to this after the *smile* fiasco against Geelong when they beat us by what 25 goals?

He has blamed Frawley for the list, he spin doctors everything, and now he is saying again i read that he is working and tuning the game plan. What is it i may ask.

He is trying to build a list based on what model. Geelong now? The doggies when he was their coach. Has anyone bothered to tell him that at the doggies and at the cats last year they got players who had , players with a bit of mongrel. At this club he has neither or not enough or few a far between.

In the nine seasons since Frawley came and now Terry in his 4th year i hate to say it but WE HAVE GONE BACKWARDS AND I SEE NO IMPROVEMENT.

The building of the list is appalling.

Players apparently keep having their best pre seasons ever but on the park they cant deliver a shot.

Will Terry see out this year as a current poll. Well he probably will but then pay him out and get rid of him. Then who will coach us. Sheedy who held our club as a bidding war and used us to get a better deal at the dons. He has said he is an Essendon man. I no longer associate him with the tigers. That is a distant memory. Who will then coach us. I tell you WHO WOULD WANT TOO.

We are yet again a club that others laugh at and worse, NO CLUB RESPECT US OR FEARS US.

Another painful year i see. I know it is only our first game BUT nothing i saw made me have any real optimism that we can turn it around.

Rosy i could see us making another bet. A bet that we win x games and finishing bottom 2.

Tigers of old. Yes the Tigers of the last two decades. More so the last 9 years. We blamed Frawley but he took us to a final series with an ordinary side compared to what we have yet Wallace has made no improvement to anything.

I am saddened but what i saw. Only a glimse but a glimse we have had for so long i want more. I was excited again this year but it goes to show how quickly this can go.

Sorry this is the hard facts.

Waiting.

Waiting for the tigers of Hafey's era.

Yeah. Good post Waiting. We are all waiting, waiting, waiting.

The back page of the Sun today echoes your solemn words. All the spin in the worls will not turn a pig's ear into a silk purse. Like you, I saw nothing last night on which to pin my faith for '08.

However, I'm still not convinced it is all to be laid at the door of our coach and/or coaches. It's surely must be the players that are lacking the basic skills to play at that level. How do you make them run faster?? How do you teach them to hit a standing target? How do you teach them to handball quickly and efficiently, just like the Crows last week. All of that.

I am with you on many facts you have mentioned but in my eyes I think that Wallace.....
A) Took on an impossible job that not many wanted
B) Did inherit a list that was rable, Frawley left the club and list in a terrible state that we are still not yet recovering from
C) Has to implicate a game plan that will suit our our average young immature body type along with a complete lack of mature age strong KPP. Also whenever Simmonds is off the park we get smashed in the ruck. Wallace in his time at the club has began to re-stock the list with quality kids to rectify these problems, it is going to take some patience. Lets not be fooled into thinking that Frawley was ever going to lead this team to a Premiership, even when we played in the finals....we were still a long way short of the measuring stick.

If Wallace is to get fired at the end of this year somebody is going to walk into a hell of a lot better situation that what he did when he took over from Frawley. After all there are only two ways you can turn around a playing list and that through the draft or via trade. If you take out JON the club has drafted fairly well in Wallace's reign, now we just have to wait until these kids turn into men.

For myself personally it is more important to see improvement out of the following players that for the team to win x amount of games this year: Deledio, Tambling, Polo, Hughes, McGuane, Thursfield, Edwards, Riewoldt, Graeme and Pattison. It is also 'GO' time for Meyer, Schulz, JON, Casserly, White and Collins.

I think we are getting to the stage where we can almost put a line through Hyde, Tivendale, Johnson, Raines, Silvester, Howat and Cartledge, some are passed it and some will never reach the level. I hope they all prove me wrong this but at this stage I can't see it.

I hate to rant on the Raines thing but is anyone else with me in asking why the club wouldn't have explored trading him whilst his currency was high. I saw some alarming signs last year, some gaping holes in his game and although the general consensous around the league was that he was a young gun week in week out you were almost wondering what all the fuss was about. Again last night they tried him in the middle and again he looked lost, he gives away stupid free kicks when is beaten or out of position and he gets caught with the ball too many times. I know we have a lot worse at the moment but I could have just seen that as an opportunity to grab another high draft pick or young KPP.

It is frustrating to watch the growing pains but 2011 looks about an honest assessment of where we are at!
Hang in there ladies and gentlemen, we have come this far!!!!

Last night I saw two problems that have been with us for too many years.

1. Too many disposal (kicking) errors.
2. No effective plan moving into the fwd line.

I think 1. is, at least partly, a confidence issue.

I wonder what impact Richo's erratic approach has on 2.

I suppose what is alarming is that on the form of last night's game you could quite confidently let a dozen players go and not feel that you have damaged the club. For me that's what the NAB cup is all about - games to see whether the fringe players on your list can hold down a position or a role.

In this regard I was surprised and pleased to see Pattison winning a fair few ruck taps and Moore play well. Was mostly just disappointed in everyone else.

While I've been a bit of a brightsider this has to be the last year we persist with players like Tivendale and Hyde, this must be the year of the final clean out of the old guard.

I disagree.
I think that our current Tigers are like the 'Tigers of old" ...... they still are "strong and bold'.

Unfortunately footy has changed.
Today's Tigers also need to be skilled and smart, which was lacking last night.
