I was told today by a work colleague, who was reading this morning's Age, that the Tigers had set a new AFL record.

Yes.

The lowest percentage, 75.4%, for a team that has won 5 games and lost 4.

Let's hope we continue setting new records.

Phanto,
This is not exactly a good record that we want to keep.
I'm hoping that sooner rather than later we can get our % over 100.
;) ;) ;)

How about getting into the final 8 on a percentage lower than 80%

and .... :cupgold ( A dream I 'd like to see & stick right up the media & other teams )

Well at least some things aren't changing at Tigerland. ;)

Yet again this season our percentage is apalling.

How is this that no matter who the playing personel are that we also seem to be on the end of almighty thumpings and yet have real trouble inflicting the same on the opposition?

The Carlton & Essendon games were classic examples of this. We should have beaten both those side by more significant margins than we did but didn't ice our opportunities.

We still lack the killer instinct that good sides have and our woeful percentage reflects this as usual.

I was wondering whether there would be any remuneration for clubs with low percentage under TW's 'Money Spinner'?

I think for a short period we were the lowest percentage to have been in the 8 too.

My twist on it is that we still have to realise that the Tiges are still some way off it yet.

Certainly, winning most of our games with a low %age is better than winning less games with a higher percentage.

It just tells me that we are still a fair way off the mark, and a measure of when we are a good side will be when both our points & %age are impressive.

How about finishing fourth with a percentage of 80%, with the remaining teams (5th to 9th) one game behind us?

Great points both of you. One of my (many) frustrations with the Tiges in recent years is our inability to pummel sides. seems like the last time we dished out thrashings was against Fitzroy!!! i thoroughly agree with you Phanto that smashing a few sides will show that we have REALLY improved. i think we deserve to be up there this year, but don't forget if a couple of those close games went the other way, we could be staring down the battle right now.
Go Tiges

The killer instinct will come with more experience. I think the positives out of the close games, is that we have fallen behind and fought back to win. Good teams win the close ones, and we've certainly done that this year. I think especially those games against Carlton and Essendon was a kicking for goal issue more than taking the foot off the pedal. I'm very encouraged by the progress and the learning experience the team is getting.

Cheers

We win the close ones, which shows confidence in our abilities.
We still tend to get flogged now and then, shows a lack of confidence in our abilities.
??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Over past seasons we have always had a bad %. I believe this will improve as the young guys develope and we start to run sides into the ground with pace and skill.
