Richmond has shocked the football world with a surprise appointment for the position of Chief Executive of Football. The position has been the subject of intense speculation since the sacking of former Football Director Greg Miller in July.
At the time Richmond President Gary March stated that the Tigers were looking for a “more contemporary” person, not necessarily from within football circles, to fill the role, which includes overseeing the upcoming player trade and draft periods.
“After an extensive process involving a number of applicants over 2 months, the Board met last night and accepted the recommendation of the subcommittee,” March said in a statement issued today.
“I am pleased to announce that the successful candidate is Hafiz Faihr Aded, who has spent the past decade at the engine-room of the competitive taxi industry.
“Aded brings a wealth of football knowledge gained from listening to SEN throughout each 12-hour shift.
“He also has an outstanding knowledge of junior football gained from internet forums, which are proven to be the most accurate predictors of the draft, if not the talent in the draft.
“While his knowledge of opposition clubs is not extensive, we see this as an advantage as he’s unlikely to trade high draft picks for skinny unaccountable flankers that are bagged endlessly on puntroadend.com.
“The Board is confident that Aded will uphold our policy of not trading away our picks in the draft,” March said. “When we benchmarked him against Greg Miller we found that his taxi experience came to the fore, and he was 72% more likely to take a wrong turn when lodging trade papers with the AFL by the 2pm deadline.”
March dismissed suggestions that Aded was only appointed after a number of better-qualified candidates knocked back the job. “Overall, when we ranked the candidates under consideration we gave Aded a solid five out of ten,” he said. “That’s our gold standard, but we’ll re-evaluate him again next July.”
Aded said that an inspirational presentation by coach Terry Wallace convinced him to swap his shift’s rowdy 2am nightclub lockout for a 2pm lock-in of frustrated Tiger supporters. “The handgun I keep beneath my seat is also locked and loaded,” Aded said. “Those feral Tiger supporters hold no fears for me.”
