Tigers Team to meet Carlton

I look at our line up and all I can see is our weak on-ball brigade.

C. Tambling, Tuck, Raines
R. Simmonds, Johnson, Foley.

This is the weakest centre line in the entire competition, by far. It wreaks of panic, indecisiveness, and errors. There's just nothing there to get excited about. This is where our problems lie. Until we get this area fixed we will not progress. Also it stagnates the development of our young forwards like Riewoldt, Hughes and Pattison and our young defenders like McGuane, Thursfield and Casserly.

We need to injest some class in there.

A centre line of -

C. Newman, Coughlan, Bowden
F. Simmonds, Foley, Brown

...straight away looks more classy and dangerous.

Newman, Bowden and Brown have the smarts and their creativity and skill will set up more scoring opportunities than what their presumed lack of accountability will lead to goals against us.

With this set up we can then add young players like Connors, Edwards, Cotchin, Polo etc, and have them develop within a group who can teach them the art of composure, vision, awareness and delivery. All Tuck, Johnson, Raines, Tambling etc can demonstrate is how to panic under pressure, kick blindly and miss a target.
Need to persist with Tambling Harold, and wing is about his bes suited position.

-Brown looks good on paper as mid but you know he won't spend substantial time in the midfield. He's a pinch hitter mid,and a good one at that.

-Lids needs to pinch hit in the midfield too at times.

-Bowden on the wing is a good idea.

-Tuck off the bench is fine for now.Foley has to rest at some point.

-Obviously Johnnon is a bit of a liability these days but what can ya do.Someone made him captain.Jackson and him will probably be tag teaming Judd.

If we lose this game it'll be lost in the midfield(as usual)

By all means, persist but not convinced Tambling has what it takes to be a core on-baller. Too many ?'s over his overall game. Relief on-baller maybe, but not a full timer.

A lot of pressure on Tambling and Delidio this year.

if we lose this game it wont be because we were beaten in the middle.....
we laways get beaten in the middle and it wont kmake a differeance

what will make the differeance is 2 keys points....
1. Stopping Fev from having a day out
2. Converting our opportunities - we are a front running side who is lacking confidence. We need our first few fwd entries to be converted - just like the collingwood game last year, it will give us confidence

i think this game is one of the most important games for Richos career, he needs to stand up, he cant afford to drop his head and spit the dummy

he needs to stay in the contest and convert his opportunities - this will stop Carlton from scoring on the rebound (which they are experts at)

Didn't bother posting after the Geelong game but now is probably time to point out one of my observations. I thought the Tigers more than held their own against the Geelong midfield at centre bounces. Simmonds smashed Blake while he was on and even Patto and Cartledge broke even.

I would love to see the stats on centre clearances but I thought Foley (no suprise) and Tambling (very pleasant suprise) looked very good at clearances. These blokes are now 6 months older with mature bodies and can take a step up against a side like Carlton whose midfield looks good on paper but is yet to gel in the heat of a 4 point game.

Even our captain ( who I have been very critical of myself) looked much better than last year and if he is over his injuries from last year may be able to make contribution.

I am far from a brightsider, have already commented on howat so i will leave that one alone, but I think our midfield will take a step up this year as some of the young blokes mature.

Hay linus, how bad is Blake? Thank Gawd we didn't get him in the off-season. The rumours were giving me nightmares.

Geez a win first up. That must hurt your pride.

You should seriously think about changing your log in id to something else because deception is criminal

we won you lost.
