Tigers Top 10

Same vintage as you Boz. In keeping with the theme, also gave my top 10 over the same period. When you try and do it you appreciate how difficult it is.

Richmond:
Weightman
Roach
Richo
Knights
Jess
Lee
Free
Bowden.J
Campbell
Hogg

Top 10:
Carey
Ablett
Hird
Locket
Dunstall
Voss
Madden
Matera
Buckley
Flower

Unlucky: Matthews (can’t remember well enough)

Good to see someone remembered Hoggy!

N. Brown is clearly the best player we've had since Rioli, yet no one has mentioned him ???

My Best 10 since the 1960's

1. HART ( None will ever come close)
2. Bourke ( Unlimited courage)
3. Richardson B ( One of two or three to stop Hudson )
4. Stewart ( Even in a short time in Yellow and Black )
5. Bartlett ( Yes was hungry but what a work ethic )
6. Lee ( A true leader and tower of strength )
7. Weightman ( COurageous and hardworking )
8. Gale B ( Gave his all and then some )
9. Clay ( From dynamic wingman to awesome fullback )
10 Turner ( Everyone stood taller when Scotty was around )

Tried to fit the Whale in for sentimental reasons :rofl

And each of these guys has what most of the players at our club dont have now.....PRIDE in their PERFORMANCE

I wouldnt include Brown in the top 10...he aint done nothing to warrant the honour.

I would say Matty Knights offered more to the side than Brown does as did Barry Rawlings.....and the great Ray Boyanich!

Must say, I dont agree in having players like "I cant" Mark Lee, Michael Mitchell & Jeff Hogg in any top 10 list at Tigerland.

From what I can remember :(

1. Richo
2. Knights
3. Campbell
4. Turner
5. Broderick
6. B.Gale
7. Cameron
8. J.Bowden
9. A.Kellaway
10. Gaspar (when he was good)

I also remember Dragacevic, but i dont think he played many games. He was my favourite player as a kid, I'll never forget that game against Sydney, I think I was about 7 or 8, when Brad Seymour knocked him out, I was so angry lol.

I'm going to cheat a little.

Players associated with the successful era (since 1977):
1 Weightman
2 Roach
3 Raines
4 Cloke
5 Jess
6 Wiley
7 Rowlings
8 Bartlett
9 Rioli
10 Lee

Unsuccessful era:
1 Richardson
2 Knights
3 Campbell
4 Bowden
5 Hogg
6 Gaspar
7 Free
8 Brown (not enough games!)
9 Gale
10 D.Kellaway

Second list was much more difficult; left good players such as Mitchell, Rogers, Broderick, Naish, Egan, Bond, A.Kellaway, Ottens, Merenda, Turner, Lambert out.

Are you serious? :o

Absolutely.

We have undergone a shocking period in our history. Rioli was our last great player and i sincerely believe that Brown is the best player we've had since.

Played one of the best individual games I've ever seen, when he tagged Jim Stynes at the "G". Absolutely destroyed the big fella.

If it is the game I am thinking of, it was football perfection. Allan Jeans was coach? Thought the coach did his homework superbly, and Leys carried out the gameplan with an incredibly disciplined performance.

Tough on Mitchell. A great player, and not just because I have a jumper autographed by him :hihi

Freezer was a great player, but to get so many mentions in the best 10 for past 25 years shows how bad we have been, same with Benny Gale and Cameron.

Flea
Knights - single handedly kept us in 1995 final against Essendon

did we play finals between 1982 and 1995? bl..dy hell

Rioli
Broderick
Jess
Richo
Roach
Campbell
Bowden
Dundas
