Tiges v Swannies: Match Day Thread

Welcome to PRE Mandy. :) As I said I love going to the SCG and I also love the different fans and atmosphere in each state. Of course we're spoilt here and nothing comes close to Tiger fans at the MCG. ;D

Some Tigs fans ended up coming out with us after the game on my scarf collection has now grown by one. ;D It's sharing with my swannies and hawks scarf on the coat rack now.

The scariest part of my day at the SCG was the after match bus trip back to Central Station.  I sat in the front seat and saw first hand how sydney bus drivers negotiate traffic.  Several times I had to close my eyes and pray to any God that would listen.  But the God I was connected to must have been a Sydney fan and was happy to inflict maximum fear on any Tiger fan aboard the bus.

i spent a lot of my weekend in sydney with a mate i met on a euro contiki tour in 2003. he's a bus driver by trade and is based in the eastern subs of sydney. i'll pass on your vote of confidence o him ;D

Were those transparent, fake, lightweight non-sports Sydney people still doing the "Wooooooaaaah" every time the boundary umpire threw the ball in ? Fair dinkum. How pathetic is that ?

Geez Sydney sucks as a sports city.

Have I ever mentioned I hate Sydney ?

(Sorry to all those Tiges supporters up there in Sydney - you get excused, of course.)

Funny you mention that.

The 'fans' around us were doing that totally Americanized....'woooowoooowoooo' nonsense whenever they scored.
When we (oh so seldomly) scored a major,I would let out my normal bloodcurdling roar of delight which appeared to scare the living bejesus out of the Swines fans.
A few even praised me after the game for sticking around 'til the end and supporting my side which was a first from opposition supporters!
The ground did lack atmosphere during general play which I also found at the Gabba in the 2 matches i've watched there.
Im guessing its because many of the new fans to the code of AFL in these states don't cheer or barrack unless its a goal or a speccy :don't know
Im still keen to go to a day of the cricket during a test match there.

So THAT'S what that silly noise was all about ::)

Think I'd like to see a cricket game there too, but I'd take a picnic and a cushion. ;)

I've been to the test cricket there Struggles; Steve Waugh hit a ton and Lara scored 277 or something like that. It's not bad but it's no "G".

Having lived in Sydney for a couple of years I've been to plenty of footy games there and quite enjoyed it. But again nowhere near as good as the "G". Sydney supporters are quite strange; real theatregoers. I remember being there during another Tiger rogering and sitting in the Doug Walters stand drinking beer and going beserk. The Swines were quite staggered and amused by my display of beligerence >:D Ah good times :hihi
