PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Now I will happily put up my hand as somebody who has wanted to keep TW till the end of the year both because I have feared a Gieschen type situation and also to sell a better picture to the world when attracting a new coach. However the season from hell has changed my view and I am now strongly in favour of parting with Terry ASAP.

Forget mid year, forget his 500 game player & coach record (it will forever reek of Sam Newmans 300th in his dressing gown anyway) its time for a line in the sand and a no compromise attitude to be re-instated similar to Graeme Richmond’s club of the late 60’s & 70’s. Some steps that as a long term member I would like to take place are:

- All players over 28; Gone at the end of the season
- Coach; Gone (Terry might be losing more than 4kg this week - how much would his head weigh?)
- Suspect players (quite a few in this list); Gone either this year or next depending on contracts
- Big hit at this years draft even though its probably not an overly strong one
- Lots of Rookies (absolute full quota)

At the end of the day not only should this attitude be a selling point to a prospective coach but lets not kid ourselves there’s not that many senior AFL coaching jobs out there and a surplus of potential applicants.

I haven’t referred to assistant coaches & the football department as I assume the new Coach & the mid season review will set a direction there.
