PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

We will win some games this year through our endevour but clearly don't have players with the skills to threaten anything meaningful in this comp for the forseeable future.
The good news is that as the year goes on this fact is now impossible for the RFC brains trust to ignore / delude themesleves any longer.
Yes of course Terence will no longer be coach beyond this year but forcing him to resign does not achieve anything beyond satisfying the Herald-Sun's bullying tactics (and if they achieve that resignation, stand-by for the "Tigers in Crisis" 4 page daily lift-out guide as they whip supporters into a frenzy once more).
Like Frawley before him, Wallace should ride out the season and take the full responsibility for what he has helped create.
But whilst he is the popular target of abuse on this website and elsewhere, Wallace of course is not the sole person with responsibility for where we are. Whilst he rightly should take the rap for McMahon etc, the club's past administrations have failed him and others with its shambolic overall performance - but specific complete failure to invest in the recruiting department, with obvious results.
But let's not take it out on the players for not being as good as we want them to be. To use Richard Tambling as an example, given he was booed yesterday, it's not his fault our recruiting guru's picked him at 4 ahead of Franklin; that's the club's fault. And that also goes for Cleve Hughes, Jay Shultz, JON and all the other's who are simply not up to the standard required.
The club's record on recruiting is nothing short of appalling, but unsurprising given the total lack on investment in this crucial division over the years.
But like the Vietnam vets who were given a hard time by anti-war protesters on their return to Australia all those years ago, the out-pouring of supporter anger should not be directed at the players, who in the main are trying their best - it's the failure of the various administrations over the years who should righly bear the responsibility.
I really feel for the players - if this is your job it can't be much fun - and even though they frustrate us they deserve our support.
If you feel angry and you need to express it, spare the players and consider writing some constructive criticism demanding the club invest further resources in the recruiting department (Attn Craig Cameron, cc Steven Wright CEO, Gary March President), PO Box 48, Richmond, 3121.
Despite our recent recruiting dept appointments, the RFC are starting so far behind in this critical area its not funny (did you notice Geelong, with their stellar list, recently announced they would spend an addtional $200k on recruiting to make sure they got it right in draft 2009 before the Gold Coast 2010 superdraft?!).
Our players would be hurting today - let's not fall into the media trap of the cliche'd Feral Tiger supporters turning on their players. They wear the jumper, let's stay solid behind them.
But we should rightfully and strongly demand the club significantly lift the investment in its recruiting department, beyond the recent addtions - and make the hard decisions on the list cloggers - so we can finally start to get some value out of the draft rather than continue as the laughing stock of the comp.
