Time for the honest triers to go...

It's not how they start, but how they finish

Seriously, we lack class, skill and talent. It's been said for years, it's still being said about us. Too many skill errors, and too many ordinary people in the club.
It's time one of Wallace, Royal, King or all three were sent on their way. Add Greg Miller to the list as well.

We need to get a champion midfielder that is young enough for the players of today to relate to, to coach our midfield. We need a coach that's going to really stick it to the players and discipline them. I'm tired of watching guys pull out of contests when they should be going in and preparing for the hits. I'm tired of watching this *smile* 47 handballs to move the ball 10meters up the ground. I'm tired of watching guys chip the ball sideways and backwards, when we're 18 points down in the last quarter. Jesus guys, the frigging goals are the other way, and to win the game you actually need to kick it to them! Amazing stuff. I think Einstein first worked it out. I know it's hard to accept, but just give it a try. I'd like to see us try grab someone like Longmire who can help structure our forwardline. The work the guys do down there currently is nothing short of abysmal. Players run every which way and don't seem to have any structure or cohesiveness.

It's also time to move on the average try hard players. We know who most of them are. They are the usual suspects who get named everyweek. I want to see Jake King added to that list. I'd love to inject his heart and courage into some others, but the guy just doesn't think when he has the ball in his hands.

It's nice to have good wins, but I don't subscribe to this crap about "we'll be all right" in a couple of years. We need to find replacements for Brown, Richardson, Simmonds, Johnson and Bowden to start with. All have either reached the end, or will reach it in the next year or two. With the Gold Coast side about to get a red carpet welcome to the AFL, we need to be really aggressive this year, and rebuild this club properly, otherwise I see 8-10th finishes at best in our future.

One last thing that didn't help. We've picked a bunch of players today who are obviously lacking match fitness, due to either returning from injury, carrying injury, or who've had limited fitness training cause they've missed the preseason. Wallace and the match committee, this falls squarely on you. If we can't run out a game, you need to be more intelligent about who's going to have the legs to do it, and put them in the seniors. I'd count, Johnson, King, Richo, Simmonds, Cotchin and Polo as players who all fit into the above catagories, and they are the ones we know about. It's great to play Cotchin and Polo, because they look like they are going to be around for a while. But playing over a quarter of the team with question marks was way to many, and in my mind, compounded the stupidity and lack of intensity shown by some out there today.

Add at least Blinga to the 'injured/lack fitness' group who ran out of legs.

Dont give injury excuses for bling. You can say that once he starts to put his head over the footy. If there really is an injury then he shoudnt be playing , full stop.

If you cant hit a target 20 metres away you shouldnt be in the senior side.

Goodbye Chris Hyde - wouldnt get a game in any other team.

General I can understand your point mate, but right now I would trade in our rabble at the moment for a bunch of "honest triers" like North Melbourne in a heartbeat - and that's saying something.

Agree. I don't reckon even Missing33 could make a case for Hyde's game yesterday.

We seem to get run over every game. Not sure what it is but in last quarters we seem incapable of hard running and finding players in space (forward of the centre).

It seems to start in the 3rd quarter. Yesterday was just a carbon copy of previous games this year where we come out after half time & it seems our blokes are still in the rooms.

Got nothing to do with physical fitness.
Our biggest problem is mental fitness / strength.
Every time the side is challenged when the game is there to be won they turn to water.
Against the Dogs, Saints, Port and Blues we stumbled bumbled and tried to play short safe sideways keepings off footy to save the game rather than taking the contest on and risking a loss to win or smash the opposition.
We surrendered a good lead and fell over the line against Port.

Strangely enough there's a bloke called Knights who everyone has been bagging all year who has insisted from the word go that his team would play hard running attacking football at all times.
Even when his list has been decimated by injuries he believes it is better for his team to lose while learning to attack the game and the opportunity to win rather than lose by trying to save the game.
Plenty of time in the players development to learn the controlled safe type of footy after they have learned to use all their talents to try and win first.

Maybe he's not quite as stupid as some people think.

The only injury Bling has at the moment is his heart!
You see the likes of Tucky come from the ground and he is absolutely spent. Bending over trying to get his breath and has given 150%.
Bling on the other hand is hardly even puffing! Very frustrating to see someone with speed to burn not using it during the game.

Disagree with you on Mcquane, Polak, Polo, Tuck and White - all those would be playing in other AFL teams if on their lists.

What we should be looking at IMO is say to the AFL we will trade the others on your list to the Gold Coast to help get them started in exchange for preferential treatment in the National Draft - extra few picks. This will enable us to turnover our list and give the Gold Coast some seasoned AFL players plus extend the careers of players who would not have a future elsewise..........?
