Time to unleash Travis Casserley.

Never seen him play, but can he win his own football? Can he win a contested posession when it's one on one and the balls on the ground? It's all good if he's big, strong, quick and a raking kick, but the above will go a long way in determining whether he's a great player or just average.

Harry,

Others that have seen him more than leysy will be able to fill you in better,

He’s your classical 6 ft 1 HBF’er, not an in & under midfielder. He has good pace & the basis of a strong body that will develop very nicely once it gets used to the rigours of AFL training.

Casserly is good overhead & will develop well to play body on body in time. He still has plenty of improvement required below his knees, this is his main current weakness ILO.

As has been mentioned by most his real strength lies in his kicking, he has the most beautiful easy flowing action with a low ball drop that makes errors very hard to make. In a nutshell he has the longest, best controlled most accurate kick Leysys seen at the club since Raines.

I have never seen him play but I still find it very surprising that a guy who's yet two play a senior game in almost two years, gets signed midseason to a new two year contract. :headscratch

I can only assume another club was sniffing around because whilst I've heard Travis can play he hasn't even been tested at the top level. ???

Its called putting faith in a kid who has all the tools and has just been unfortunate with injuries to date.

He's not our Courtney Johns is he? :o

Whilsy leysy has been flumoxed at the re-signing of several of our players on contracts that obivously weren't deserved.
i.e Krak for 3 years on big $$$ & Richie for a 3 year term.

I've no issue with Cass being given two years on what would be almost base wage conditions.

At an unlikely worst case scenario & his niggles get worse or he only holds his form next season & doesnt improve I'd be startled if a player with so much obvious potential was a candidate for delisting.

We got this one right ILO.

Danny Meyer was only signed to a 1 year deal and we had at least seen what he had to offer in 06.
You may be right but I still find 2 years surprising.

Casserley has shown far more scope to play AFL than Meyer had even if at Coburg Toohey's Blue.

I'll take your word Daisy as I haven't seen him play.
Apparently his last few weeks at the Burgers have been disappointing but I hope you are right.
