To all those Hawks supporters out there

For some reason the Dawks supporters out there seem to be obsessed with Richmond. I don't know why they hate the Tigers so much, but they do. Read crannypete's blog in the Hun, it's more about Richmond than it is about Hawthorn. I don't hate Hawthorn more or less than any other club out there. If they're not Richmond, they're the enemy. I must confess I'd love to beat St Kilda, but that's mostly because they've had the wood on us for so long.

Can anyone tell me how the lists compare age wise, Hawthorn supporters I know , reckon their list is not only better than ours, but younger as well ,

I was of the impression we would be slightly younger.

Going on stats they're slightly younger, but that's just done on an average age. Richo, Bowden, Browny and Johnno all pump our average age up. I'd like to see something like that done on experience, how many players out of the best 22 have played more than 100 games or between 50 and 100.

Do you mean Hawk supporters in general Carn, or Hawk supporters on the Internet? I find them to be two different breeds. Crannypete is just desperate for attention. Sad really but we've had our share of PREnders at times, ie when we got Wallace and Tambling, posting on here urging other PREnders to go and troll the Hawks site and get stuck into them.

If Richmond can't win the premiership I'll be happy if the Hawks do. I'll certainly avoid reading about it on their websites though.

I don't think they'll be losing any sleep over this comparison. One is at the beginning of his career and the other is at the end (and a career that in the case of Richardson has coincided with one of the most unsuccessful periods in this clubs history and for whom we have no obvious replacement). Plus Franklin isn't a one man show, he has back-up. With Roughhead, Wiliams and a Thorpe waiting in the wings he won't be double and triple teamed like Richardson was during his career. Can you imagine how much easier it is going to be for him? Pay too much attention to Franklin and their other forwards will cut you to pieces. If a neutral supporter had to pick between the two at the moment and where their respective clubs are at, it would be a no contest.

WCE won a flag without a key forward. Lynch developed around/after the flag. Hawthorn are too top heavy, ala RFC '95 (Stuart Edwards, Richo (Kinda), Daffy, Jurica, Naish, et al). If the dawks loose a couple in the middle, their backline is not good enough without midfield running to support. With tags, and Crawf getting on, the dawks mids and backs will be exposed to a hodge or mitchell injury. Buddy proved tonight he is not always the saviour. He has a dodgy shoulder and failed the psych test at draft camp, which speaks volumes.

In comparison, the Tiges are developing/have developed about 10 that can go through the guts - Cogs, Foles, Lids, Brown, Johnno, Jacko, Cotchin, Conners, Bling and more.

Lets review this "who would you pick scenario" in 18 months time.
