We celebrate Foley for doing extra hard yards on his own to lift himself to a level few thought he could achieve. Would the same people blaming the club for Chimp & Connors overdoing it prefer that Foley just did what he was told and still be a fringe midfielder ?

We want players who will push themselves harder, faster and have a hunger to get better. The last thing we want are cotton balled overpaid duds who only do what they are told. We've had 20+ years of that sort of work ethic in RFC and it didn't get us very far.

Good point. As many have written, Trent will need to learn how much additional work he can do before he runs the risk of injury. This is where the fitness staff can step in and help him understand what his limits are.

Fantastic post. :clap
FANTASTIC???
This is just shooting from the hip.

Foley has worked up to this level slowly but surely, as Chimp & Connors will have to do also - there's no short cuts to getting to an elite fitness level.
Genetics & Body-type will play their hand BUT the one thing everyone and anyone can do is over-train and if the body doesn't have that foundation to cope with the intensity, it will break down.

You cannot compare Foley / Cousins / Richo etc. with these 2 kids.

Foley slowly but surley ? In one preseason he went from a kid who looked ok in places to tearing it up. When interviewed he said he put in the extra hard yards over pre-season trying to build up his speed and acceleration.

Can't see how you can say comparing Foley to Chimp & Connors (let's not forget Jack who didn't get injured but was part of the off season hard trainers) is not a fair comparison. It's close to the exact same circumstances.

Foley was very limited in his first 18 months or so at the club due to his dodgy knee

Can someone confirm training at Vic Park on Wednesday morning 10am?
U took my daughter to Punt Road and there was a skills session with only half the group... apparently the full sessions are at Vic park on a Wednesday?
THanks

Can anyone confirm it?

I don't have time to search the web for it now, and I'm leaving first thing in the morning.

It can be so damn elusive trying to find out for certain where training is half of the time.

It's a wonder our players are able to make it to the correct venue.

Disappointed no training today at Vic Park.
The club needs to give us training dates here on PRE as the RFC site is not always upto date
Next training session is apparently at Punt Rd next Tuesday 27/1/09 at 10am

I put a training report from today in the sticky training thread at the top of the forum.

I agree with how much of a pain it is to get trainng info out of the club, last week the girl on the phone was about to spit out the training time but then must have realised it was a closed session and lied and said they werent training, but yesterday the same girl freely told me it was Trevor Barker Oval at 9am... go figure.

FWIW, I reckon they will have some match practice this Friday, if you are lucky enough to find out when and where training is... my guess would be Vic Park so they can make it a lock out if they want to... unlike Gosch's paddock and T.B. Oval.
