Toilet shock! Professional sportsman spotted at urinal
by STAFF REPORTERS
The world of professional sport was a sporting world populated by paid professionals in shock this week after a professional sportsman was spotted urinating in public - at a urinal.
The event took place on Saturday night at a North Melbourne hotel. According to a witness, the player (who thebladder.com will not name until 3AW does) excused himself from the bar at around 11.30pm and went into the men's toilets.
"I thought it was a bit weird at the time," said Des Grolph, 37, of Moonee Ponds. "I mean, this guy is a very high profile football player, so I wondered what the hell he was doing going into the men's room instead of just pissing on the floor in front of everybody."
Grolph followed the player into the men's room to discover the sportsman pissing into the urinal trough. "He looked like he knew what he was doing, almost as if he'd done it before," said the disbelieving Grolph.
The AFL Players' Association was quick to issue a statement, saying this behaviour was an indicator of the pressure professional sportsmen were under. "One has to ask, what has the world come to when a professional sportsman, revered by his peers and the public alike, is forced to hide away in order to urinate. Do we really want to live in a society where footy players cannot *smile* wherever, and on whomever, they like?
"Whether they be at a bar, a casino table or simply in their hotel room, should our professional sportsmen, and, indeed, women, be allowed to *smile* on the carpet, or throw their excrement against the walls."
The owner of the North Melbourne hotel said he was deeply upset by the sportsman's actions. "Really, it's like he's saying he wouldn't *smile* on my hotel, both literally and metaphorically," the owner said.
