No Tambling either. ;) Not a bad side there bobby.

No Tambling or McMahon, what can I say, I am not Terry Wallace :hihi

Tambling would be earning his keep at Coburg improving his deficencies and workrate and McMahon would either be a Bulldog or Power player.

Hmm, Scotty Selwood or Callum Ward would look good in our line up just about now.... >:D

Does Hislop have what it takes to develop into the small defender we've been looking for ?

Said as fact because......................?

Or is just your considered opinion BT ;) ;D

We're after someone to take care of the nippy slimebags like Betts and Milne. Too quick for the Slopmeister Pharace. The only thing Sloppy could do to get on top of these slimebags is to serve them a main size serve of knuckles with a knee to the balls on the side.

Ohhh that would be valuable anywhere on the park in our team! ;)

How much slower would he be than Chris Johnson former back pocket for the Lions or Campbell Brown from the Hawks?
Not much wrong with being a tough back pocket. Speedsters might get away occasionally but they also be looking over their shoulder. I reckon he should at least aim for the possie. Might be his best bet of getting a game.

The difference is they had/have a footy brain (Brown/johnson) whereas slops is an instict type player.... see ball get ball

Question: Can Hislop be converted into the mid sized shut down back pocket that we so desperately need?

Been wondering the same.

Aside from the obvious that is discussed about his aggression/tackling (this is not just a "tag" he rated No:1 for tackles in u18's while averaging 20 disposals) etc wise, I think he could be. Of course if his best game ends up as being a inside midfielder you would rather him in that role if we are in need. That aside, in the spirit of your question;

He is certainly agile enough, finished in the Top 4 for Agility in the Draft Camp that year. The way I saw it when trying to determine where he might play in a premiership if not a inside midfielder, I see him as a back flanker or small defender.

He has a excellent speed and endurance combo at being sub 3.00sec for 20m and mid level 14 for the beep test, in addition to finishing 4th in the Agilty Test at Draft Camp.

He get criticised as a back flanker at Essendon on here but he barely had any development time and had a lot of issues at that club and barely had a chance to make the role. I think he would be better as a back pocket than half back flanker. Essendon tried to use him in a little bit of a LMID role too. Not his strength.

Hislop as a back pocket player, with his aggro, would be an asset. King on one side, Sloppy seconds on the other. It's like Sheeds and Malthouse all over again.

Though I can't see Knig lasting in that role the minute someone with a bit more flair steps up.
