Boy o boy wowee.

I want Freo to beat the hawks next week. We don't want Hawthorn winning their 11th do we?

If the Dawks win this years flag, they'll at least have worked hard to earn it, plus they at least play enjoyable footy. If they miss they've under achieved and are right on the edge of the slippery slide. Dawks topped up chasing the extra flag while the Catters refreshed their list. Stinking Cats look like they will be annoying for a while yet but the Dawks n probably Sydaknee might be fairly cooked by now.
Not overly fussed by Freo, maybe about time they performed at the top level n got a trophy. We usually go reasonably against them so they don't hold much relevance for me.

At least with Freo they are an expansion side that have never been spoon fed. If they win, they have earned it fair and square by doing the hard yards over the past 20 years under the same rules as the 'old' clubs.

With all this talk of turning the town purple of in the west, you would have thought that Freo would play their part and actually wear purple :headscratch

I kept thinking I needed to have my colour vision checked next time I am at the optomerists.

Maybe novelty wears off after being in prelims for 6 years or so.?
Or, from a slightly different angle, possibly their supporter base's sense of entitlement attitude deems them passionless as they expect that it's a given they will play finals every year. Flogs! Most boring supporters in the league. If Glenferrie Oval was still in use, I think you'd get more atmosphere at a Sunday morning church service.

Geelong, though still very solid, are showing signs of a gradual decline, with periods of inconsistency starting to creep in. In summary, past their peak.

Hawthorn are WAY overrated with the media . Yes their first 22 are very good, but gee do they struggle for depth outside of this. And as Richmond have proven in their last two meetings, Hawthorn can be fragile.
Guess you're not going to the VFL GF between Box Hill and Geelong then, eh?

While I admire Freo's defensive game and savage attack on the ball, I just don't enjoy watching their games.
It was the same when Lyon was at the Saints.
I'm hoping Hawthorn smash them just to prove that attacking skilled footy still wins big games and Lyon's strategy fails (again) in a Grand Final.
BTW - I don't like Hawthorn but I'd rather we played like them than the Shockers. Imagine watching the Lyon cr*p week after week at the 'G.

When Greg Dear rucked for us in the mid 90's he said we got more people in the rooms after a home and away win than Hawthorn did after a GF win.
