White Line Fever....... on Fox Footy at 7.30pm with Clinton Grybas, Terry Wallace and......... finally....... the retrurn of one and only Caro  :welcome

Plenty to talk about re Richmond before the big blockbuster this Friday night. Does it get any better than playing our traditional MCG rival in our 500th VFL/AFL appearance* at the home of football?

* according to AlltheStats.com  http://afl.allthestats.com/teams/teams.php?t1=13

Tiges didn't move there till the 60's I think Inty.

Surely it couldn't be only 500 Hayfever...
I think MFC have played over 1000 at the MCG alone...???

I think he meant the Tigers' 500th appearance at the MCG.

Let's see.

About 1905 to 1965, at 1 games per year = 60 games.

Then the MCG became the Tigers' home.

1965 - 2006, about 10 games per year = 410

Plus finals.

Yep, that's about right.

That would be 1908, would it not Phanto? ;)

When you're doing quick arithmetic, 1905 to 1965 (60 years) comes out easier than 1908 to 1965.

According to the same source Inty the Demons have played 970 games there. Check out the bottom part of screen on this page  http://afl.allthestats.com/teams/teams.php?t1=11

Tigers overall win % at the MCG is 55.41 compared to the Dee's 53.66. In 118 clashes between the two team at the G to date Richmond has won 62, drawn 1 and lost 55.

Interesting ;)

Excellent :clapping

We have a little milestone game here of our own.

Looking forward to watching TW and Caro on WLF.

Who else agree's that this fridays game is our biggest, most significant match of the season so far?

Bring it on!!!!

Yes definitely. Melbourne are in red hot form and we will have to lift as a team to match them, for sure.

I'm expecting a really big crowd as the AFL have deemed this match to be one of the 2 "compensation" games that Melb members get for transferring home games interstate.  So they get FREE ENTRY.  And knowing how much demons fans value a dollar I reckon we'll get a huge crowd.

It mustn't be counting some games - because I have a cap that signifies Melbourne's 1000th game at the MCG - I think it occurred in 2003.

Yes, there are different stats on another site. They may have included VFA games played on the MCG if indeed that occurred prior to Richmond entering the VFL, but the different sources do need to be reconciled.
