williams is the best coach in the afl bar none. but i doubt he would wanna coach us. i have always felt that he has always looked down at us from afar... but i guess not many people out in the footy world respect us anyway.

Best coach bar none? I'd be happy to get him but there are others I'd rank ahead of him: Matthews, Malthouse, even Eade despite not winning a premiership.

You could even add Paul Roos in that group

how good was the 2004 port premiership team? on paper they were no more than a mid-range team imo. he made them play out of their skins. and they finished on top 3 years in a row... and somehow made a grand final with kids last year. oh, and one more thing: David Rodan. i rest my case... choco is nothing short of a genius.

matthews coached a star studded team at brisbane. while malthouse has been great at collingwood, he underachieved big time at west coast. eade is yet to coach a premiership, say no more.

Interestingly Makthouse has been at the Pies for a long time now and has only a 50% win strike rate and of course no flags.

When you consider the amount of financial resources at his disposal that's a pretty dissapointing result.

That's 13 yrs of coaching without a flag.

I guess with two in the bank and those two grand finals for the pies it buys him more time but not many coaches would get to go on for 13+ years without a flag.

Personally no I would rather a lot of others before Williams. But if he was to get the job and we were not doing to well I would be loud in the I told you so's alo if he was successful I would quickly change my tune ;D ::)

Yep. Wallace is in his 11th year I think, Rocket Eade is the same.

We did beat them, just, they had a red hot crack in the last and really should have beaten us over there, but we won, Williams has still coached a Premiership, Wallace hasn't, he just played in heaps of them.

How good were they? The 2 Burgoyne's, Tredrea when he was genuinely the best CHF in the competition, the 2 Cornes, Francou, Pickett while he was still playing well, Lade and Primus....... They were lucky to catch Brisbane on the way down in their premiership anyway, an aging tired team with quite a few injuries. Williams teams play football that is good for the regular season but is almost always found wanting in the heat of finals.

Maklthouse is coaching the Cranbourne under 13's for a few years now, but he reminds JB a lot of Mick Malthouse, so this is probably why he is pumping up his tyres.

francou and primus were injured. mahoney, bishop, schofield, thurstans, montgomery, wakelin, kingsley, etc, etc. all premiership players. none of them exactly household names.
