With all the talk of this years SUPER draft,I thought I would have a look at previous drafts with intrest to see what chance of getting a dud in the top 10.I went back and looked at the drafts between 93 and 01 the more recent ones I thought were unfair to judge at this stage.I then put the players into 3 categories 1.success(100+games or looking like) 2.Servicable, had an impact for a couple of years may have played 50 games.3,Dud or unlucky.
Found 49 of the 90 players drafted in this period would have to be classed a success.
18 of the 90 I would call servicable
23 of the 90 were duds(unlucky).
So I figure with this 1 in 4 players drafted in the top 10 dont make it,im sure there is a variety of reasons injury, inmaturity, lack of self belief lots of reasons but the bottom line been a top 10 pick is not a garunteed Champion. There is a 50% chance you will get a very good player though especially if your pick is in the top 5.
IMHO I found 97 the best year with 9 players making the grade and 1 servicable.
Of course these are just my opinions plenty may disagree
