Obviously it depends then on where we finish this year and what first pick we get then. Assuming we get something like pick 7 first off, then I reckon one of Sellar, Leuneberger or Selwood would be available. But the others will most likely be gone.

As for any hypothetical late first round pick from the trade of Pattison, then you are looking at a host of other players I guess.

so you're talking about a KPP/ruckman with 2 years experience under his belt (and a few more before he matures) for an unproven 18 year old kid?

The wraps on these guys are ten fold whatever wraps were on Patto. The experts are salivating this year at the prospects on offer............ and the name of the game is net gain.

If the tigers got Hansen for CHB as well as a gun midfielder in Selwood, Djjerrkerra ect or even another quality tall such Sellar Luenberger or McKenzie then in my opinion that is a net win as we have two very good prospects for the cost of one who is still only a prospect.

That in my opinion is a net gain. We have Hughes as a Key Forward as well as Simmo and Knobel we need a key defender more than anything and if we could get a Beauty in Hansen at 195cm to play CHB for the next 9- 10 years as well as another quality player then MOST DEFINATELY i would trade Patto as it is a definate NET GAIN.

As was the case when we swapped our leader and leading goal kicker in Jeff Hogg for Gale and Broderick.

Yes we lost a very good player and a skipper but the net gain was evident immediately the following season with Broderick and Gales contributions two good players opposed to the loss of one.

WCE, Power and Crows ect have been doing it for ages.

I would listen to an offer for everyone. Then elevate each deal as it happens.

For Patto would want a pick close to what the Crows gave up for Fergus Watts but even then I would think twice. Reckon Patto is about wehre he should be for a young KPP/ruckman.

hypotheticals aside, do not dismiss the value of an experienced player or two especially when the window of opportunity is open ie when the fab 5 and co peak.
Lions did it with pike, lynch and michael. sydney with hall, davis and Jolley, Port hardiman, wakelin, mahoney etc. Look at all the GF sides and they all have top up, experienced, seasoned players. young kids stand taller.
The question is how and what to give away to get them and still keep some high draft choices.

I know you have concerns about his kicking but I really like Patto's second efforts. He is also developing his tapwork and his marking and at Coburg at least his stamina looks to be another strength. Has done all that could be expected and trading him may have an adverse effect on the younger core group?

However a late first pick may bring us Mckenzie who would be great for us. Maybe to position ourselves for a late first rd crack at him, and rather than Patto, I'd prefer to offer our second rounder plus Knoble?

Or sub Gas, Krak or Tiv as you prefer.
