gm stated that this years draft and trade  would be pretty quiet for the rfc ,so why were so many posters wetting their pants when what he predicted came true.

whether is was our financial position or that greg decided that next season is the year that matters , who knows? he has done pretty well since he has been at the rfc so i for one am prepared to back his judgement on this matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree TF but be prepared for a very long season next year mate.... :-\

I still have faith in Miller and TW but the fact that our list is still infested with duds and other sub standard underachievers will continue to *smile* me off until the hard work is done once and for all and these space wasters are removed from the RFC.
Every season that goes by is wasted with their retention and it makes me sick that these hacks are still going to be running around this coming season and stagnating the development of the side and we all know the players i am talking about.

These so-called 'duds' will be off loaded at end of 2006 as next year's draft is more valuable.  Get ready for another spring clean next year.

Another fruitless waste of time and another wasted trade period.
Well done tigers wasting all of your time chasing a player who was never going to be traded and was only put up to give him a big kick up the ass in Fevola!
Not to mention our list in 06 unfortunately again will contain, Tivendale, Hall ,  Pettifer Chaffey and Stafford so apart from a few kids the tigers will have a similar amount of duds playing for them next year which i am ecstatic about about  ???

I have faith in GM and think he knows what he's doing like most others here, but I don't agree with the original post anyway. I agree on Tivendale and that's about it (and even getting stuck into him is starting to get a bit old - I admit I'm as guilty as anyone else but there's only so much time you can spend bagging one person like Frawley, Tivendale etc.). IMHO Hall is a handy spare-parts player until we have a better option or we don't need a spare-parts player anymore (and I think it's fair to say that at this stage we still do). As much as I hate to admit it Pettifer has improved, and I haven't got it in for Chaffey as much as most others seem to - sure at times his decision making and disposal can be pretty average but I still think he's a fairly handy player. Finally, I reckon calling Stafford a dud is very harsh - sure he's getting on but I think he's been pretty good for us since coming from Sydney and although he wasn't great last year I don't think we could've asked much more from him.

Wouldn't be shattered if some of these guys moved on in '06 but the way the trade period was this year we didn't have much choice other than to give them away and I don't think that would've been a good move (yet).

This years draft is lighthawks made an error in my veiw,

We made fewer changes this year I agree but that may not be a bad thing.

If we get rid of all our no hopers who will play at coburg?

We have got alot of kids that should be putting there hands up for seniors this year to replace the likes of Tivva and Chaff
Raines,Roach,Meyer,Gilmore,Pattison,Limbach,Polo,Mcguane.Jackson

Eventually these players need to be proven so next year is there chance.

Whoever is performing should get a game no matter who they are.

Next year is the year to trade for low picks with name players.

This year taking 3 kids in a light draft is smart.

Instead of overloading with them as the Dawks have done.

The guys on SEN were saying about how much time is wasted during the week on the big names and the fringe players who should be given a chance elsewhere miss out. They mentioned 2 trade periods one that would include players and picks and the other player for player swaps I think it had some merit and whats another sleepless night

Gotta agree with 1965 and SD. GM's pursuit of Fev was in no way matched by the hysteria on here.

By all accounts this years draft is not as strong as next so let's play our 2004 picks next year with the Tivs, Chaffs, Kraks, Staff's, Hilton's etc providing guidance at Coburg if they dont perform. In the meantime we get 15 or 20 games into the Polo's, Meyers, Thurs', Pattissn's, Foley's etc. Maybe we finish low and with trading, get a couple of low picks in a strong draft in 2006. Then we offload the deadwood and trade agressively in a strong draft.

Makes sense to me.

For some reason I could here Gary Ayres talking :hihi

I cannot understand some peoples logic on thbis board.

Initially: everyone was bagging Fevola saying they didnt want him he was a hack & had a bad attitude and bagging GM
then when it looked like we were after him everyone started saying great lets get him but dont use our first round pick and bagging GM
Then others started saying maybe only use 1 first rounder on him and bagging GM
Then when it fell through people bag GM for mot making the trade??

Greg Miller is a smart man - if Fevola came cheap (in picks & $$$) he was worth the punt, if he didnt then we lose nothing (other than making Carlscum keep him which frees less dough for the rest of their squad)
The fact that Carlscum were not prepared to budge is their problem not ours

As far as Hall & Tivvers go, we know they are second tier players and so does everyone else - if no one wants them you cant trade em, rather than give em away they can play for coburg unless their form improves or we get desperate through injury - they are worth little on the open market

In the end we couldnt broker a deal, so what, are we not looking for youth in the draft with our picks - as many suggested
I would suggest that some of you should be rejoicing, we keep our competitive team, our kids are a little older, smarter & fitter, we add a young KPP with pick 8 and hopefully we regain Browny, *smile*, Roden & Kellaway all back bigger and better next year.

In a way id say we are in good shape, not worldbeaters, not premiership material - YET but building nicely for the future
