Trade Rules amended

maybe fremantle will go back to their days of accepting dummy offers from us

ie an ageing and near retired chris bond for pick 2(Brad Ottens), which has since turned into patto and meyer for us. what were they thinking

or how about the jeff hogg deal (as much as it made my no. 34 on my jumper useless at the time)
jeff hogg for- broderick, michael gale, matt dundas and elliot

we could offer almost anything for polak, maybe our last pick haha, or the already retired stafford

It wasn't just us, they've been screwed by most clubs. When they started they traded McLeod, Farmer, Darryl Wakelin and Chad Morrison for Douglas Headland, Phil Gilbert, Chris Groom and Brendan Krummel, not to mention what they've parted with since then. :-\

yeah they have definitely had some shockers.

but so have we:

we gave away pick 8 (Jude Bolton) in the '98 draft for Craig Biddescombe (sigh) would have to be up there with the worst trade blunders ever

was always a bit shattered we gave away a draft pick and daffy for staf. daffy never did anything but the pick turned out to be james kelly. was a bit lucky though. probably worked out about even so far

Assuming we finish 9th, would we be in the market to swap #10 & #26 for, say, pick #3, leaving #42 as our second pick?

If we finish 9th, we will have pick 8 and 26 ( assumeing Carl and Ess both lose again this weekend )

Priority picks now following the first round at pick 17 and 18.

About time, great rule change. :clap Should free up some multi team trades that previously could not happen.

Also remember that there are no real people involved in trading picks ie no contracts to work into salary caps, not having to make sure the players involved are happy etc - therefore trading picks is easier than trading players.

In a deep draft like this there could be a few teams happy to trade a top 10 pick for 2 picks in the 11-30 range.
However supporters dont like teams trading down like this so it would be a brave GM making the call - even if it is the right one. Dont think much will happen because the new rule is in its infancy here, in time it will though.
