With Gaspars back ended contract ending and with us only paying 92% of the cap and Richo not being put on the vets list,Im assuming its affordability related and not salary cap related to give up a player on the same wedge as Polak then?

That's what I was referring to when I said this struggs...

I think Millers comment about the salary cap was code for: 'We have told clubs that they must take a player off our hands in any deal'.

In other words. Yeah you can have that deal...IF you take player x off our hands also.

I think you are right Tigerdog...but in reality we dont have much leverage.  ie We wont trade our picks (rightly so) & we finished mid ladder therefore in a poor position to be PSD threat.  That leaves us with....nothing... unless we are prepared to offer Polak a 5 year deal like we did Simmo, because no other club would be mad enough to touch it (in the event Polak declared for the PSD).
A three year deal would still probably raise some eyebrows, therefore no other clubs would touch that.

well i'm certainly not taking that as "we cant afford Polak"  ;)

Knobel and Rodan to Carlton for pick 19.

Tuck :( to a club for a 2nd round pick.
That 2nd round pick to Freo for Polak.

Hartigan to Essendon for pick 36.

Krak and pick 58 to North for Perry and pick 37.

Kellaway or Jackson and pick 36,37 to Brisbane for Wood and Hadley.

We gain:

Pick 19
Polak
Perry
Wood
Hadley

We lose:

Knobel
Rodan
Hartigan
Krak
Pick 58
Jackson/Kellaway*

Picks: 8,19,35,74.

*I know he is gone anyway, but Brisbane will need some experience and may want to keep their PSD options open.

One of the trades would have to be rolled into another as I am sure you can only make 5 trades.

How easy is this game. :hihi

Been talking to Greg i see TD.Not sure he.ll be happy with you letting the cat out of the bag ;D :hihi :hihi :hihi

Tigerdog, after your fully sensible post about Miller blackmailing other clubs to take one of our duds, I was beginning to think you'd found the plot. Welcome back. ;D

BTW can you spare Hartigan and punt Moore?

Skills, isn't it time you made a phone call? ;D

Great posting chaps, with special mention to T-dogs red hot crack at reality. Though I can't see the Blues giving away pick 19 but we'll see.

Agree also, has to be rubbish from Miller about salary cap. We should have cr@ploads of room - but which overpaid lemon is Miller wanting to punt?

not bad at all Tigerdog... you just have to find a way to fit tivendale in there as well. maybe send him to carlton with knoble and rodan and get pick 17 instead of 19 off them? :P

Come on james brown have a crack at it. ;)

Krak is the obvious one.  It won't be Tivendale as I reckon Plough loves him.  Enough lemons for a convention of Corona drinkers but not sure which other players are overpaid?

Agree, with Blues youth policy can't see them offloading pick 19 unless something very decent.

Interesting that Steve Johnson from the Catters is being shopped around. When he's fit he's a match winner. Another small fwd out of favour is Milne, another is Krak, and there's even speculation about Medhurst - used small fwds abound!

Tarrant's a bit like these two but not quite as famous for his off-field exploits.

These are blokes who are rumoured to like more sauce than pie.

Exactly right lads, There IS NO WAY it is salary cap pressure.

I also dont think it is because we would be paying over our budget.

Consider the savings from last year -
Gaspar $500 large down to what maybe $150K this upcoming season
Kellaway must have be on what $250K
Chaffey maybe's $150K
Staff          "  "     $100K

Then the average delistings ie Rodan, Humm , Roach etc.

This needing to get a player out to balance the books is all a Miller furphy, to get one of our unwanted players off the books ie Krak. Or maybe someone with a bit more currency ie Tuck, Cogs etc freed up. :fing32

Scenario 1 -
If we can offload one of these players early enough in the week, then quickly landing Polak. Expect us to have the capital to make a very serious play for what could potentially be a very serious player later in the week....... :fing32

Scenario 2 -
No-One comes to the party & takes our players, we will then still swap draft picks for Polak, (rest assured that will still get over the line) We are desperate for a KPP defender THIS SEASON. It just means we dont free up the cash to get another player in over the trade period.

Miller is trying to offload a contracted player or 2 so that we don't have to pay out their wage. If we can't then expect a further delisting or 2.

For the life of me I can't work out why people keep using the likes of Rodan as trade bait!!!

He been de-listed (or as good as) FFS!!!
Thats hardly currency is it??

Even if someone was stoopid enough to have any interest, then they'd surely know that they could aquire him for next to zip in the PSD!!

Not just a crack at you Tigerbog...(well maybe it was >:D) but Knobel and Rodan together would be lucky to acquire pick 75 IMO.

My understanding is Rodan has another year to go on his contract so he can only be traded. After the year he has had no other club is likely to want him.In his defence he came back from a knee this year & 2007 should be better for him.Likely to  be his last chance next year.

Club can pay him out too Molly Bloom.

That's what I reckon will happen too,he's just taking up a spot on the list ATM.
