Trade Week - What would you do in Miller's shoes?

All he said was that the first 3 days is a bit of a joke, wouldnt really comment on the Polak/Tarrant/Draft picks deal.

No one will give out much at the moment.

I believe that Polak will go to Carlton if Thorton goes, if not he will be a Tiger.

Perry is up in the air, Carlton Essendon or Tigers for mine.
 
Sorry to explain further a Richmond draft pick to Collingwood.  Miller did not say we wouldnt give a draft pick (damn), but he indicate that we must 'shed' a player of equal value to make this deal happen.
 
Very short interview with not much revealed.Miller suggested the Thornton deal is along way from being done.In repsect to Polak I got the impression that the 3 way deal with pies & freo is quite possible.This would see Polak at Tigerland & Tarrant at Freo & our 1st pick would drop a few spots.It was also mentioned (Not by Miller) the Saints have offered Hawks pick 27 for Everitt.
 
Hmmm ... A Richmond Draft Pick to the filth?

They won't trade Tarrant for anything less than a top 20 :(

I'd be livid if we sent 8 to the filth and didn't get 13 >:(

Trade out Krak for a draft pick?
 
Foregt Krak the pies would want a player such as Tuck or Coughlan from Richmond to make that deal go ahead.
 
I thought it would be
Tarrant to freo
Polak to Richmond
pick 13 (freo) and our second/third round (or player of that value) to the Pies
 
I don't think it will be a 3 way trade. There would be 2 seperate trades.

Trade #1
Pick 8 to Freo for Polak and Pick 13

Trade #2
Freo trades our Pick 8 to Collingwood for Tarrant.

All works out well. Freo give up a maligned player and a late first rounder for Tarrant, which is pretty fair if Freo are THAT interested in him. Collingwood get that second first rounder they were hoping. And we only get downgraded 5 spots and add our starting CHB for 2007.

If that Richmond player going to Collingwood was Krak - I'd be wrapt with that deal, but they wont take him.

I dont understand why Freo would give up pick 8 in the superdraft for a hack like Tarrant. I'd be spitting chips if Richmond were suggesting that.
 
We traded our pick 8 to the Pies once before. They used it on Danny Roach. Who? Yeah other clubs make mistakes too.

I think Millers comment about the salary cap was code for: 'We have told clubs that they must take a player off our hands in any deal'.

Is Adelaide the other club that has an interest in Spider?

I agree Doggie, there are no doubt one or two that the club must wanna chop, geez i hope its Tivva and Hall, but for the betterment of the club as a whole i would not lose sleep if Cogs or Tuck were traded for THE RIGHT PRICE.

We must no longer be afraid to trade (names) to improve the club long term.

Adelaide or St kilda to whom we should also be speaking about either Knoble or Simmo. While just the surviving? ruckman with Patto plus Graham would not be ideal the d/p value of either of these two to clubs like St k, Adelaide or Carlton is very high this year and deserves a look imo.
 
With Gaspars back ended contract ending and with us only paying 92% of the cap and Richo not being put on the vets list,Im assuming its affordability related and not salary cap related to give up a player on the same wedge as Polak then?
 
I just hope we do something, anything, in trade week. It just seems a waste if we don't bring anything new to the club, whether it be players or picks.

In other words. Yeah you can have that deal...IF you take player x off our hands also.

I think you are right Tigerdog...but in reality we dont have much leverage. ie We wont trade our picks (rightly so) & we finished mid ladder therefore in a poor position to be PSD threat. That leaves us with....nothing... unless we are prepared to offer Polak a 5 year deal like we did Simmo, because no other club would be mad enough to touch it (in the event Polak declared for the PSD).
