trades, delistings....

got it in one. i think hes going to be real good. not yet 20 10kg undersized atm had a tough yr asked to take on more than hes ready for.played a lone hand a fair bit no real help. but showed enough glimpses to suggest in 2 or 3 yrs time he could be one of the elite big men in the game.

So I guess you don't buy the 'too slow / can't kick' orthodoxy? (I think his smarts make up for lack of pace on the mark and hope some more miles on the legs will make him a better kick from 50 late in the game)

Club should be looking at shopping tambling around. i doubt his stocks will increase. The longer we hold him the less we'll get in the future. Might get a second pick. :o

Yes and no.
Can see why some are disgruntled with him but he is still young, has improved each year and could be a key ball mover and rebound defender from halfback.
I think the pressure is on him because of Buddy but it is not his fault he was taken early.
If he was a late pick we would be raving about him and have high hopes for the future.
However because he went early he is already supposed to be a star.
Having said that if a GREAT trade came up u never say never.

Don't really agree 7, we've come this far with him and waited this long for him to develop, we may as well keep him. As you say because he is still unproven we wouldn't get much for him anyway, plus we'd just be creating even more of a controversy with the whole Tambling over Buddy thing.

Not disputing your call on Riewoldt at all but surely you wouldn't consider trading Rance at this point either?
most certainly not. just stating theres only really 4 outstanding young players on the list i suppose.or 4 you can be sure of.
i would not contemplate trading/delisting most of the younger players atm. we have them in our system we have to keep them until we go thru our developmental processes. other wise what is the point in puting kids on the list at all.

Well put.

I'm all confused now, I thought we were trying to guess your opinion, not our own lol.

Good to see you think highly of Jack, I agree with your sentiments. I actually think he is going to be better than Nick (get's ready for the onslaught).

Out of interest, what DO you think of Rance Claw?

(those last two words read weird...LOL...)
i had rance in the top 10 last yr. i really wanted him bad it was a blessing he dropped so far. real nice mover and a good user some will argue with this. is not scared to take a chance and he competes real well one on one. some question his pace i dont. once we iron out the rough edges i think he will be a good one. imo he should have been given a couple/handful of games this yr, again others will disagree with this.

the other boy i had pencilled in at pick 19 was pears but alas this wasnt going to happen when we traded this pick away. the club said they had to toss up between selwood and rance i would have been happy with selwood at 19 as well. would have been a great draft to get cotchin, rance, selwood/pears.

Couldn't agree more. I had him like Hurley this year, the dream pick I had set myself to miss out on.

Agree with you both on Rance, he fell perfectly to us though his kicking is only passable ILO.

Dont wanna go over old ground clawsy lad cos we know where we stand ;D, but it begs the question why we'd go for another key defender first up & very early. Spesh Moore & lesser extent McGuane along with Thursty coming on. Also FWIW Carlton are the only team that'll take Hurley before us ILO.

Slowish defenders (especially on the last line) are being massively phased out of our great game.

What is his overhead marking like claw?

If Leysy can but in, Its solid one-on-one but very very rarely if any more players are involved in the contest.

Thats the norm for backs though. If they were any good at it they'd be playing & winning games as a forward in juniors.

Thanks leysy. Seems like you have a lot of football knowledge.

I ask because I can't recall seeing him take one in the couple of Coburg games I've watched.
