PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

As expected with a game tomorrow, and it being 30 degrees, short 45 minute session. Only the senior squad trained albeit for one or two guys doing some individual work.

Indiscriminate kick to kick. Couple of hand ball drills, then some end to end kicking drills with some marking and dishing off thrown in. Finished off at the top end of the ground with some forward line movement of the ball combined with running shots on goal as part of it .

On the whole, what you’d expect of a training run before a game the next day. Sharpest trainers to me looked like Tuck (quite vocal), Deledio, Newman, Richo, Coughlan and a few others.

Coughlan: despite not playing last week looks super fit and ready to go.

Patrick Bowden: will say it again. Has bulked up across the chest and shoulders and has added a yard or two to his pace over and above what he could produce at the Bulldogs. Another who is looking supremely fit.

Stafford: not a lot has been mentioned by anyone about him. Looks the most mobile I have seen him in 3 years.

Tambling: doesn’t look like he’s going at 100% just yet. Looks like the club is managing his groin issues carefully.

Knobel: despite not playing last week, looks set to play. Very encouraging in the drills – uses his voice a lot better than most others.

Pattison: to his credit, kicking has improved but at the sake of speed to boot. At senior AFL level, will get caught a lot taking that long to get it onto his boot.

Chaffey: just ran laps.

Deledio: is there anyone in the league who is as quick over the first 5-10 metres and then just as quick to get it to boot ? His and Newman’s precision is a lesson to most. Seems to be enjoying himself with the Tiges. Noticed on a few occasions he was joking and larking about with a few of the guys. Good to see.

Pettifer: will not play. Has broken left hand. Trained, but did so using virtually one hand. Chest marked everything clutching the ball to his body using his right hand. Further proof that he will not play tomorrow was the fact he was put through a searching set of run throughs after training that had him absolutely knackered.

JON: continues to be plagued by groin problems. Could not complete the running session he was being put through and left the ground early.

For what its worth, Casserley: OP. Out indefinitely.

And lastly, the great Gumpus Hall. Looked like he was ready to play today. All fired up and running hard – something Wallace gave him credit for during the drills.

That’s it. Take from it what you will, because as we all know, there’s “no negatives or positives” to come from training or training reports in general. ;)
