After the two biggest road trips in the AFL and playing on two rock hard surfaces fatigue will be a factor this week. Most teams suffer some sort of let down after making the trip to Perth or Brisbane. One can only imagine how the boys feel, A very short sharp week on the track you would imagine.

Would be very interested if some of the stas gurus could put together what has happened to teams that travel two weeks in a row. Welcome your thoughts on this matter...

You can imagine the team being a bit flat on Friday night. To counter that, it would be good to see some fresh blood introduced to the team this week. Hughes and Knobel are the obvious ones given that they both played Coburg reserves (with the longer break than Coburg seniors). Krak may also be a chance ??

I still believe it is jsut a psychological thing. 6 days is a fair amount of time to reco ver fro ma footy game. They do it often enough and are well condtioned nad have godo conditioning staff. I still belive it is a problem if they believe it is.

if we can go from a trip to perth and still win in brisbane the following week, we should have no excuse coming home this week...

One of the best wins we had a couple of years ago was against the Hawks coming off a 5 day break. I think we played the Saints at the Dome on Easter Monday, and then beat the Hawks on the Saturday. Staf gave Spider a touch up, and the game turned a full 180 in direction.

We dont have it too bad though, Middlesbrough the way they are going in all of thier comps in the UK & Europe, may well end up having to play 8 games in 20 days! Now that will test the deepth of the squad, and Schwarzer & Viduka are injured as well.

Adelaide had quite a travel factor in the first 4 weeks as well, Melbourne, Adelaide, Carrara and Perth. They won all their games except their home one.

I read somewhere that training was lighter this week in consideration of the travel. Sounds like good management to me. ;)
