Agree mate. Lids is a gun that Dirty Harry would be proud of.

Cotchin though is in another stratosphere. The once in a generation stratosphere.

The stratosphere where Royce and Maurice walk.

What a great post Blade :clap

Slow down. He is not in that company yet. You are talking about a legend of AFL football who has won matches off his own boot and a player who won a Norm Smith in a losing team.
He may well get there but we need to see him perform consistently in the really big games that are coming in the future before even thinking of him in those terms. I also would like to see him tidy his kicking up a bit before I think of him in that exalted way.
He is a terrific player but he is no Royce yet.

Technically you are correct mate. Hopefully a few Brownlows and premiership will change your mind. :D

I don't want to talk Cotchin down because there are few players in the AFL, if any, I would rather have in our team. But he has a lot to achieve to be spoken of in the same terms as Royce Hart.

He strikes me as the sort of player who is going to rise to the big occasions. Let's hope he gets the opportunity soon.

Just a joy to watch. Like watching a mini James Hird. Star.

Watched a replay again last night. 5 minutes to go 3rd quarter. Cotchin collects ball and handballs in defensive 50, links up gets the ball again, another handball, links up a third time after a couple more handballs, kick straight down Nahas throat, kick over to Edwards, goal! That was complete and utter class. Cotchin is an absolute champion. Has taken a little while to see his full impact due to injury and interrupted pre-seasons etc but gee how exciting is it to have Cotchin, Deledio, Martin in midfield spending 'rest' time in the forward line?

That was quite possibly the best passage of footy for the day. I thought that was when the commentary team finally came out of denial. They had spent the whole of that third quarter anticipating the inevitable turn of fortunes when the Hawks piled on a few quick goals and ended the contest and were all competing to be the one who called it first. Instead, they were treated to a flake of the Yellow-and-black future that will unfold.

The hulking belligerence of Martin, the sublime marshalling of Cotchin and the silky skills of Deledio combined to create a passage of play so seamless that not one Richmond player needed to break stride and not one Hawthorn player could anticipate.

Apparently there's a Chimp on the couch tonight. 8-

Look forward to listening to Roosy with the Tiges and Aints winning & Dockers and Swans in the dumps.
Might even tune in for a change.

No more posting permitted for you Tottie, you've made me go all warm and fuzzy.

Cotchin, Fyfe and Pendles are the 3 best players to watch in the game. The decision making in traffic and to work in confined space is second to none, it has nothing to do with work rate, its all class.

Those who havn,t put money on Cotch for the brownlow this year should do so asap. After 9 rounds if he,s not in double figures then something is seriously wrong with the umps.

Which games do you think he has got BOG for? Or 1, 2 votes? Not saying he hasnt, just curious to know which games people think Cotch has polled in.

When it comes to Brownlows and Richmond, there always is something wrong with the umps.

Ian Stewart still comes across to me as a St Kilda player who won the Brownlow while at Richmond, and what was that story about KB and Keith Greig again?

Lids and Cotch are pretty even in the coaches votes so far. Dunno why but I suspect the umpies would go more towards Cotch though.
