That was quite possibly the best passage of footy for the day. I thought that was when the commentary team finally came out of denial. They had spent the whole of that third quarter anticipating the inevitable turn of fortunes when the Hawks piled on a few quick goals and ended the contest and were all competing to be the one who called it first. Instead, they were treated to a flake of the Yellow-and-black future that will unfold.

The hulking belligerence of Martin, the sublime marshalling of Cotchin and the silky skills of Deledio combined to create a passage of play so seamless that not one Richmond player needed to break stride and not one Hawthorn player could anticipate.

Best play of the day coast to coast, but it was expected to see Bull, Chimp and Lids do that. My biggest enjoyment of that play was to see Shank compose himself to kick a straight and vital goal which virtually sealed the game.

Which games do you think he has got BOG for? Or 1, 2 votes? Not saying he hasnt, just curious to know which games people think Cotch has polled in.
I reckon he,s picked up 2x of each 3,2,1,s.
The bonus this year is apart from the Carl game,We have been close with the other losses which means that while he wouldn,t get 3 votes in a losing side[Only Judd gets those],he could get 2.

Lids and Cotch are pretty even in the coaches votes so far. Dunno why but I suspect the umpies would go more towards Cotch though.

Although I wouldn't mind Cotch taking home Charlie, my preference would be for Lids.....backed him b4 the season at 190:1!

When it comes to Brownlows and Richmond, there always is something wrong with the umps.

Ian Stewart still comes across to me as a St Kilda player who won the Brownlow while at Richmond, and what was that story about KB and Keith Greig again?

Yep, umpires loath giving Richmond players votes even when in premiership years like 1974. That year Bartlett won every media award going by a country mile. He won our JD medal and was leading goalkicker. He was red hot favourite for the Brownlow.

Greig was a worthy winner though, it was when umpires considered 'Fairest' more significant than 'Best'. Before the GF nearly every Richmond player went over to Greig to shake his hand.

Bartlett was spotlessly fair but our ruthless attitude back then turned wimpy snivelling weeds of umpires off. I doubt know what excuse they could come up with this year if Cotchin keeps this form up and doesn't break our 41 year Brownlow drought.

Betting is suspended, I was going to put some cash on today!! He is in the top 20
I have a Luxbet account and the Brownlow odds have just gone back up.
Cotchin $19 and Deledio $26. I have $20 on Lids at $81 from the preseason ;D

Jack has come in to $5 for the Coleman as well behind only Buddy at $3.50.

Get off Luxbet and get on Betfair! Can get Cotchin at $26 and Deledio at $50. Jack at $5 is good value however!

Definitely , thats because Cotch gets more positive raves in the media , I believe that influences the umpires votes when its a close call between players.

It was interesting to hear Richo comment recently on the year he polled well in Brownlow votes at the end of his career, he said he had played better seasons earlier in his career than that, but he didnt seem to get the votes because he wasnt as popular in the wider football community then. And the year he polled well, it was popular for everyone to like Richo.

Two factors will be conspiring against Cotch, one is that he's been playing in a losing side for 5 matches, the other is the form of Deledio, who may take some votes away from him.

At this stage I'd chalk him down for 6-8 votes, not bad but he'd need to poll very well in the remaining matches.

Cotch will be a guest on my TV in six hours. Hail the great Hominidae chief.

The chimp was in his local haunt having lunch today. Looked ready to tear into the saints, hair was perfect.

The media are predicting cotch is gonna cop a hard tag from of the better taggers in the game... Well that's all well and good, but how are they also gonna stop lids, dusty, axel, tucky, Grigg, etc?

Saints have been putting hard tags on the outside midfielders. It's how they rolled Carlton. I reckon Lids will cop the hard tag.

I'd like to know how Cotch's hard tag is gonna stop Cotch.
