Do you think Trent will take out the rising star award this year.
or will it go to a rhys palmer or a cyril rioli.
it is a tough call to make.
for me palmer disposal lets him down a fair bit. he has great ability to win the footy but the way he uses it does let him down.

cyril rioli can have very quite games aswell so that could hurt his chance in the award.

what do u think?? will trent take it out?

I think Trent will take it out. Everyone - especially the media seem to love the way he plays.

A couple of his moves last night where breathtaking.

Can you imagine this guy with 2 full pre-seasons under his belt???

Palmer is injured isnt he, for the rest of the season I understood. Cotchin has the advantage now over him. Rioli. Dunno, has been quite hot and cold. Good chance now for the Cotch.

i think I heard somewhere that the criteria is you have to have played the main percentage of the year and they were saying that would count against him but your right Palmers skills let him down and he's in the same boat as Cotch as he's not playing again this year. Rioli doesn't spend enough time in the middle to warrant an Rising Star award I reckon.
But he may win it on default.

Palmer playing today against Port Adelaide - has knee cartledge issues that a Scope will clean out at season's end, bar more deteriation................. Cotchin has as good as won it IMO. because votes are opinion based aren't they - not tied back to all games played, which Palmer would have an advantage if it were.

Playing today and from reports is having a good game. The kid certainly knows how to find the ball but his disposal can be pretty average. No doubt this will probably be reason he might just fall short from winning IMO

Was talking about Cotch winning the Rising star last week with a mate.

He told me that some guy placed a $20,000 bet on Cotch to win it about 7-8 weeks ago at huge odds.

would be short priced now, probably 2nd favourite bat $4.50 maybe

Before this round:
Palmer 1.55
Cotchin 2.50

After this round, it will look something like this:
Palmer 1.40
Cotchin 2.70

If our bloke can play two more blinders, he'll win it. If not, it's Palmer's.

Dont think cotch has played enough games and he isnt going to win it if he is only playing 50% of the game like he did this week.

But IMO it dosent matter because Trent will be a better player than Palmer, Rioli and whoever else.

that'd be about right.

2 horse race now

Played today for Freo.

Palmer had 31 posessions for Freo

I thought when they said he was out last week with general soreness and wouldn't play again this season it sounded a bit extreme.
Someone had some wires crossed somewhere. (probably me ;D)

Read/heard the same thing.

Is there odds for the Rising Star?

I think Palmer's BOG this week has it wrapped up for him unfortunately
Especially as Cotchin's output has dropped in the past couple of weeks

The only thing that may go in his favour is that Griffen was rated #1 by quite a few judges in 2005, despite his stats not even being in the Top 5. They simply went on the quality of his output, not the amount. If they go by the same guidelines, then Cotchin could still be a very good chance.

I think they're trying to make sure they're not controversial this year though so I see it as
1. Palmer
2. Cotchin
3. Rioli
